Shoppers
stand in line at the check out counter at Salt
Creek Attic on Saturday. The store in Mount
Pulaski was one of several local businesses and
organizations that were taking part in Christmas
on Vinegar Hill. In its 30th year, the big
shopping weekend has seen large turnouts every
year, but this year could have been among the
biggest in recent years. The weather was
reasonable, no snow or rain and while it was
chilly it was not frigid. Shoppers responded to
the opportunity to get out and shop in the
small, friendly community, and local businesses
and organizations reaped the benefits.

the limit for this young woman, who kicked off the first
game of the 2018-19 basketball season by breaking the MPHS
girls all-time scoring record that was previously held by
Jessica Awe. |
Awe, a current 5th grade
teacher at MPGS and an assistant basketball coach for the Honeybears,
scored 1,687 points in her high school career and set that record in
2013. Hayes broke that mark in the opening round of the Clinton
Turkey Tussle Tournament last week.
