Bee's Floral and Landscaping

The Hearing Aid Center

Today our Paint the Paper Pink pictures feature two local businesses, Bee's Floral and Landscaping, and the Hearing Aid Center.

Lorrie Paige and her son Daniel pose with the item they have donated to the Pink Pumpkin Auction that will be held tonight at Collision Concepts. Mandy Cordray (kneeling), Joyce Dearth and her son Don stand with a collection of items that will also be a part of tonight's auction. These folks are showing us that they are big supporters of those fighting cancer by wearing their pink. Donating to the fundraiser also shows us that they along with several others who donated auction items, truly care about those in Logan County who are battling breast cancer.

Tonight's auction is being held at Collision Concepts, next door to Culver's on the west end of town. The doors open at 5 p.m. and the auction begins at 6 p.m. Collision Concepts and Lincoln Daily News have partnered for this fundraiser, and the organizers have sought and received donations of 50 auction items. Everything being offered has been donated by caring businesses and individuals with 100 percent of the auction proceeds going to Relay for Life and designated for breast cancer research and support.

Today in our Top Stories we have a story about breast cancer survivor Wendy Bell. Wendy is a four-year survivor. We chose to use this picture from last Christmas because we know a lot of folks will recognize this lady as her alias - Mrs. Claus. It's hard to imagine that someone so vibrant and healthy looking today was once battling one of our most dreaded and feared diseases - cancer. Wendy is a victory over cancer, and we are so thankful that she agreed to share her story with our readers.
