WINTER WEATHER PREPAREDNESS GUIDE - PDF
|
Meteorological
predictions of the severe cold to hit central
Illinois were spot on...unfortunately. The high
temperature occurred at midnight, just as
Tuesday became Wednesday and was one degree
BELOW zero and falling. At 6 a.m. the National
Weather Service recorded the temperature in
Lincoln at -16 F with a wind chill of -40 F.
Yet, after sunrise, LDN reporter Curt Fox
snapped a shot of the window thermometer on his
back porch as the needle approached -20 F on
Wednesday morning.
