What's worse than having your well go bad or your
septic system stop functioning, or having to move? You don't want to
ask questions like that. In this issue those are the kind of issues
that we discuss.
There are three things that you need to prepare when faced with
projects of this magnitude: your heart, your planning and your
budget. The emotional load of having to respond to disaster, or
preparing to move is huge. So much to do, so much to take in, and,
oh no, what did we forget? Having a good plan is really crucial to
making these things happen with the best outcome. And what is this
going to cost? Never ask a contractor if we can add this or that to
a project without realizing that whatever you ask for is going to
cost more!
Part of the problem with the things on the Really Big Stuff list is
that often these things are not optional or chosen. Being the victim
is never something we would invite and figuring what you will
sacrifice for the next couple of years to afford the expense is not
the kind of choice we are often prepared for or want to face.
