Just
in time for evening traffic on Tuesday, this large piece of a tree
fell to the ground fully blocking the street in the 500 block of
North Logan in Lincoln. Lincoln police and city crews were on hand
quickly to re-direct traffic and get the very big tree part out of
the road. The tree is reported to have hit the ground at
approximately 4:45 p.m. Tuesday.
Similar damage continued throughout
the evening with multiple power outages reported throughout the
city.

Lincoln
College Professor Ron Keller has published the first major book to
focus on Abraham Lincoln’s legislative career in more than 50 years.
Lincoln in the Illinois Legislature is an indispensable account of
Abraham Lincoln’s earliest political years.
The last major book with a single focus on Lincoln in the state
legislature – Lincoln’s Preparation for Greatness: The Illinois
Legislative Years – was written by the late U.S. Senator Paul Simon
back in 1965, when Simon was near the beginning of his own political
career, serving in the Illinois Senate.

Gusty winds damaged trees on College and State Streets
on Tuesday evening taking out power for a large portion
of central Lincoln. On Wednesday morning most of the
area power was restored with only 103 locations without
power. |
