Contractors Ready-Mix

Johnny's buy Sell Trade

Jules Flower Shop

Today we're bringing you photos from eight local businesses that vary greatly in the services they offer. Contractors Ready Mix, Don Peasley of Peasley Funeral Homes, Duvall Automotive, Hot Frog Designs, Johnny's Buy Sell Trade, and Jules Flower Shop are the featured photos. Thanks to all those local businesses for stepping up and putting on the pink for breast cancer awareness.

The willingness of so many to wear pink and publicly address breast cancer awareness is amazing. For many, many years, cancer was a whisper, and breast cancer was not spoken of at all because it was too sensitive and addressed a very 'private part' of the human anatomy.

In 1974, the year she became the first lady of the United States, Betty Ford broke the silence and took a giant leap for breast cancer awareness by allowing the press to be a part of her breast cancer battle. She invited the media into her hospital room and permitted them to witness and report on her diagnosis publicly.

Many people credit the first lady for bringing this particular cancer out of the darkness and into the light. Her courage empowers us all today to show our support for warriors by wearing pink. Thanks to the hundreds of people in Logan County who are allowing LDN to publish their pink. They keep the voice of Betty Ford and all the women who battle this disease alive and loud!

Beginning Monday, October 28, 2019 at 7 a.m., south Kickapoo Street, between Wyatt Avenue and Clinton Street in Lincoln will be closed while contractors are resurfacing the road.

The closure will include the intersection at Decatur Street and south Kickapoo Street.

High school students, parents and local traffic should find alternate routes on secondary roads. No commercial thru traffic is permitted downtown other than for local deliveries.

Be advised that inclement weather could delay work. Once construction begins, it is expected to last approximately three days. The road will reopen once work is complete.
