Tuesday pink shirt pictures for breast cancer awareness month features eight groups that constitute the District 27 Elementary and Junior High schools, the Lincoln Community High School and Heartland Community College – Lincoln campus.

These particular photos were chosen for today because they tie in well with the breast cancer awareness article in today’s edition in a couple of ways.

To start, within these photos are people who are trained professionals, dedicated to preparing our local youth for what lies ahead in their future. Within those young people, there may be those who will someday become the researchers, doctors, nurses, clinicians, and technicians who are dedicated to preparing cancer warriors for what lies ahead in their future.

The photos also set to mind, these photos represent educators, and the mission of the American Cancer Society is to learn and educate through research and outreach. In today’s breast cancer awareness article two aspects are driven home.

First, research is still ongoing. The article speaks about studying incidences within racial diversity and calls for greater awareness and better education for those designated as minority races.

Secondly, breast cancer mortality rates are falling, thanks to early detection which comes from increased education and outreach funded through the ACS.

Thank you to all these remarkable people in the photos who took the time to pose for a photo and send a message that this is an important subject they hope all of us will want to learn more about.
