            K. Johnson, 92, of Lincoln died at 11 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001,
            at his home. His
            funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at
            Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Daniel Wissmann
            officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
            Funeral Home in Lincoln is in charge of arrangements. Burial
            will be in Old Union Cemetery, Lincoln. Johnson
            retired from Lincoln Developmental Center after nine years. He
            previously worked 41 years at Stetson China Factory. He
            was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He
            was born May 29, 1909, in Bloomington to Roy and Leonora Koopman
            Johnson. Surviving
            are cousins Mark Davison of Tremont, Betty Lunick of Springfield,
            Edna Marie Powers of Witt and Kathleen Lebeck of Albuquerque, N.M. He
            was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 263
            and Masonic Lodge 210 AF & AM, all in Lincoln. Memorials

            Russell Betty
            Russell, 80, of Chenoa, formerly of Easton, died at 4:10 a.m.
            Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at BroMenn Healthcare in Bloomington. Her
            funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Hurley
            Funeral Home in Mason City, with the Rev. Jack Nicolay officiating. Visitation
            will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. An
            additional memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19,
            at The Meadows Mennonite Chapel in rural Chenoa. Mrs.
            Russell was a homemaker for her family. She
            was born Oct. 11, 1921, in Petersburg to Thomas E. and Pauline
            Pilcher Kirby. She married Cleveland C. Russell Jr. on June 27,
            1942, in Mason County. He died April 11, 1973. Surviving
            are one daughter, Mary (and Gary) Herrman of Gridley; three
            grandchildren, Jay (and Missy) Herrman of Bloomington, Jeffrey (and
            Jen) Herrman of Bloomington and Greg (and Brianne) Herrman of
            Gridley; three great-grandchildren, Braden, Katie and Julia; and one
            brother, T. Robert Kirby (and Marcia) of Mason City. She
            was a member of Easton United Methodist Church. She
            found joy in life with family and friends. Memorials
            may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Gridley building
            fund, Easton United Methodist Church, Meadows Campus Center or
            Gridley Ambulance Service.   to

            Simpson
             
            Jeremy W. Simpson, 19, of
            Lincoln died at 2:23 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at Memorial
            Medical Center in Springfield. His
            funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
            Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Larry Maffett officiating. Burial
            will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln. Visitation
            will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Simpson
            was a general laborer. He
            was born Aug. 22, 1982, in San Diego, Calif., to Gregory and Melinda
            Easley Simpson. Surviving
            are his mother, Melinda Simpson of Lawndale; his father, Gregory
            Simpson of Lincoln; his stepmother, Cheryl Simpson of Lawndale; one
            sister, Brittney (and Deven) Morgan of Normal; one niece, Abriana
            Morgan of Normal; his paternal grandparents, Willie and Phyllis
            Simpson of Lincoln; his maternal grandmother, Janet Rivero of North
            Fort Myers, Fla.; and his maternal stepgrandfather, Dr. Horacio
            Rivero. He
            was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John Easley. Memorials
            may be made in care of the Simpson family.
