Perry
Williams, 76, died at 5:54 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2001, at Walnut
Ridge Care Center in Springfield.
Funeral
services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at Kerrigan Funeral
Home, with the Rev. Patrick DeMeulemeester officiating.
Burial,
with military rites, will be in Elkhart Cemetery.
Visitation
will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Williams
was employed as an insurance salesman for Country Companies in
Bloomington from 1947 to 1971, worked for the Illinois Department of
Transportation in Springfield from 1971 to 1985 and was a
legislative aid for Rep. Robert Olson from 1985-1992.
He
served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
He
was born in Atlanta on Sept. 18, 1924, to James and Blanche (Brandt)
Williams. He married Kathleen Fitzgibbon on Jan. 22, 1949, in St.
Louis, Mo. She survives.
Also
surviving are two sons, John (and Denise) Williams and Paul (and
Dawn) Williams of Elkhart; one daughter, Teresa Williams of
Rochester, N.Y.; three grandsons; and one sister, Maye Stephenson,
of Mount Home, Ark.
He
was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
He
was a director, founding member and former president of Elkhart
Community Bank and was a board member of Illini Bank at the time of
his death. A member of the American Legion for more than 50 years,
he was a former commander of the Elkhart American Legion Post.

F. Stock died at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at St. Clara’s
Manor Nursing Home in Lincoln.
Graveside
funeral services will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lincoln, on
Friday, May 25, at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Thomas Taylor
officiating.
There
will be no visitation. Kerrigan Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements.
Mrs.
Stock was a homemaker.
She
was born in Lincoln on March 25, 1911, to Michael and Antonia (Lorys)
Stock.
She
is survived by two sisters, Minnie and Stella Stock, both of
Lincoln; two nieces; and one nephew.
She
was preceded in death by two sisters, and one brother.
Mrs.
Stock was a member of Holy Family Church, the Daughters of Isabella
and Holy Family Society.

"Kay" Verban died at 10:55 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at
Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln.
Funeral
services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 26, at Holy Family
Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Thomas Taylor officiating.
Burial
will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lincoln.
Visitation

Before
she retired in 1975, Miss Verban was employed as a clerk in the
License Division of the Illinois Department of Conservation.
She
was born in Lincoln on Feb. 8, 1910, to Michael and Manda (Zupan)
Verban.
Surviving
are two sisters, Frances Kendrick and Mary McGee, both of Lincoln.
She
was preceded in death by three brothers.
She
was a member of Holy Family Church in Lincoln and of the former
Daughters of Isabella of the church.

Ruby
M. Van Matre, 78, of Mason City died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 22,
2001, at her home.
Funeral
services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 25, at Christ Lutheran
Church of Mason City, with the Rev. Robert Martinek officiating.
Burial
will be in Mason City Cemetery.
Visitation
will be one hour before the service at the church.

Mrs.
Van Matre was a homemaker.
She
was born March 1, 1923, in Green Valley to Earl and Etla (Diers)
Scott. She married Harold Van Matre on Dec. 14, 1947. He died April
3, 2001.
Surviving
are two daughters, Linda K. (Tom) Morris of Springfield and Dee
(Jamie) Thompson of Mason City; four grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren; one brother, Frank (Beverly) Scott of Green
Valley; and one sister, Mardell Urish of Pekin.
She
was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Mason City, Dorcas Society
and American Legion Auxiliary.

Lorene
G. Kendall, 92, of Bloomington, formerly of Champaign-Urbana, died
at 6:07 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2001, at Heritage Manor in
Bloomington, following complications from a stroke.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 25, at Holland and Barry
Funeral Home in Lincoln.
A
family graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26, at New
Union Cemetery, Lincoln, with the Rev. Wallace Reifsteck
officiating.
A
memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 26, at St. Peter’s
United Church of Christ, 905 S. Russell St., Champaign.
Mrs.
Kendall was a retired teacher.
She
was born June 8, 1908, in Lincoln to Adolph and Katherine (Brautigam)
Gehlbach. She married Dr. Kenton A. Kendall on June 24, 1940, in
Lincoln. He died Nov. 14, 1972.
Surviving
are three daughters, Mrs. Hugh (Linda) Rowen of Decatur, Mrs. James
(Sharon) Walker of Bloomington and Mrs. Donald (Sandra) Willetts of
Westerville, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Mark Rowden of Iowa City,
Iowa, Amy Willetts of Raleigh, N.C., Scott (Anne) Walker of Denver,
Colo., and Keri Rowden, Deena Rowden, Kent (Aimee) Willetts,
Jennifer Walker and Sara Rowden, all of Chicago; and two brothers,
Albert and George Gehlbach, both of Lincoln.
She
was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters: Harry
Gehlbach, Erwin Gehlbach, Melvin Gehlbach, Mabel Paulus and Mildred
Meinershagen.
She
was a longtime member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in
Champaign, a 50-year member of Chapter FF of the PEO Sisterhood, and
a member of the Monday Club of Champaign and Kappa Delta Pi national
education honors society.
She
received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education from
the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. She taught nine
years in Oak Park before her marriage. She later taught at the
Bottenfield and Robeson elementary schools in Champaign.
She
retired in 1972 from the Champaign Unit 4 School District. Her
husband was a professor at the College of Agriculture at the UIUC
before his retirement.

Rose
Ellen "Rosie" Frakes died at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 22,
2001, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Funeral
services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 25, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Roger James officiating.
Burial
will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Middletown.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home in Lincoln.
Mrs.
Frakes was a seamstress at Lincoln Garment Factory for 20 years. She
was also a foster grandparent at Lincoln Developmental Center.
She
was born June 6, 1911, in Gettysburg, S.D., to William and Winnie
(Deck) Hamil. She married Odie Cleveland Frakes on Oct. 27, 1930, in
Pike County.
She
is survived by one son, Garrett "Whitey" (and Darlene)
Frakes of Carlinville; three grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.
She
was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, two
brothers and two sisters. She was the last of her immediate family.
She
was a member of Sweetwater Christian Church in Sweetwater, the
American Legion Auxiliary of Middletown and Royal Neighbors of
America.

at her home.

Mrs.
Broy was a homemaker.
She
was born Jan. 3, 1928, in Bettendorf, Iowa, to Millard and Isal (Cosper)
Rupe. She married Gary Broy on July 11, 1968, in Rock Island. He
died Jan. 4, 1982.
Surviving
are two brothers, David R. Rupe of Davenport, Iowa, and Millard Rupe
of Bettendorf, Iowa, and two sisters, Anita Yeast of Bettendorf,
Iowa, and Tina Rupe of Springs, Colo.
She
was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
