Letha
J. Elam, 88, of Lincoln died at 8:01 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at
Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Her
funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, at Kerrigan
Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Carroll Richards officiating.
Burial
will be in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.
Visitation
will be from noon until 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs.
Elam was a homemaker.
She
was born April 25, 1913, in Flatwood, Mo., to Russell and Susan
Chastine Phillips. She married Earl Elam on April 25, 1930, in
Lebanon, Mo. He died Dec. 20, 1965.
Surviving
are one son, Loyd Elam of Lincoln; six grandchildren; 15
great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
She
was also preceded in death by one daughter, one grandson, one sister
and one brother.
Memorials
may be made to the donor ’s choice.
Kathryn
Drury
Kathryn
Elaine Drury, 53, formerly of Emden, a resident of El Paso Health
Care facility, died at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, in El Paso.
She had been ill for several years.
A
graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Bethel
Cemetery, Emden.
Holland
and Barry Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
Mrs.
Drury had been employed at a law firm in Washington, D.C. before her
illness.
She
was born Nov. 1, 1947, in Roswell, N.M., to William Mark and Sylvia
Ayoub Miller. She married Leslie Drury on March 7, 1970, in
Washington, D.C. He preceded her in death.
One
son, Scott Drury of Washington, D.C., survives.
She
was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Maria
Miller Ewers.
Mrs.
Drury was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Lincoln.
She
graduated from Armington High School and from Midstate College of
Peoria.
Memorials
may be made to the Huntington’s Disease Foundation or to Bethel
Church of Emden.

Meeker
Elmer
Lincoln Meeker, 95, of Mason City died at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, Oct.
14, 2001, at his home.
His
funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at Mason
City United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bruce Bolin Ghitalla
officiating.
Burial
will be in Green Valley Cemetery, Green Valley.
Visitation
will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason
City.
Meeker
was a retired farmer.
He
was born Feb. 12, 1906, in Minier to George and Julia Rolfs Meeker.
He married Rachel Shawgo on Jan. 17, 1945, in Mason City. She died
Aug. 3, 1980.
Surviving
are one son, George (and wife Alice) Meeker of Mason City; three
daughters, Ann Hodgson of Bloomington, Jean (and John) Aeschliman of
Benson and Faye (and Earl) Bragg of Mansfield; five grandchildren;
two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Sarah Johnson of Mason
City and Edith Krohn of Aurora.
He
was also preceded in death by one infant son, one grandson, one
brother and one sister.
He
was a member of Mason City United Methodist Church, where he held
numerous offices. He was a charter member of the Mason-Fulton camp
of Gideons International, past president of the Mason County Farm
Bureau, and a member of American Angus Association and Central
Illinois Angus Association.

may be made to Gideons International or the Mason City United
Methodist Church.
