Wayne Klockenga

Wayne Klockenga, 65, of Petersburg died at 8 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2002, at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

Burial of cremains will be in Hartsburg Union Cemetery on Friday, July 19. The Rev. Mark Carnahan will officiate at the 10 a.m. graveside service.

Holland and Barry Funeral Home, Lincoln, is in charge of arrangements.

Klockenga retired in 1998 as executive vice president of Mason City National Bank, where he had worked since 1964. He had formerly been employed at State Bank of Lincoln.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He was born May 31, 1937, in Hartsburg to Henry B. and Kate Westen Klockenga.

Surviving are his companion, Judy Stahl of Petersburg; one sister, Ruth (and Frank) Krueger of Lincoln; two nieces, Cindy (and Jerry) Pagel of Lincoln and Kaye (and Jim) Wessbecher of Lincoln; and one nephew, Roger (and Sandy) Aughton of Brandon, Fla.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Aughton.

He was a graduate of Hartsburg High School.

He was of the Lutheran faith.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or Mayo Clinic.


Nellie Hamil

Nellie Lorene Hamil, 83, of Lincoln died at 8:57 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2002, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Mrs. Hamil donated her body to medical science. A memorial service will be at a later date.

Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.

She was retired from the dietary department at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

She was born Feb. 25, 1919, to William and Rosa Edith Sanders Wright. She married Harlen W. "Fuzz" Hamil on Dec. 11, 1937, at New London, Mo. He died Dec. 5, 1976.

Mrs. Hamil’s survivors include one sister, Hilda Jurgens of Middletown; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 12 nieces and nephews; and 27 great-nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Doris Bates; one son, Harlen D. Hamil; three brothers; three sisters; a twin grandson; and a great-grandson.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Lincoln.

Melody Hufnagel

Melody Faith Hufnagel, 46, of Lincoln died at 3:40 a.m. Monday, July 15, 2002, at her home.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Prairieland Christian Church in Hartsburg. Chad Ragsdale will officiate.

Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, San Jose.

She was a factory and office worker at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Decatur.

She was born Oct. 5, 1955, in Lincoln to Herbert J. and Nelda May Harms Rogers. She married Jerry Hufnagel on July 25, 1998, in Clarendon Hills.

Surviving are her husband, of Lincoln; her parents, of Emden; two daughters, Tamara Letterle of Normal and Brianne Letterle of Lincoln; two stepsons, Joseph Hufnagel and John Hufnagel, both of Montrose, Mich.; and two brothers, Mark (and Patty) Rogers of Emden and Matthew (and Kim) Rogers of Downers Grove.

She was a member of Prairieland Christian Church of Hartsburg.

Memorials may be made to the building fund of the church.
