            Ramona ‘Babe’ Veff Ramona "Babe" Veff, 
            72, died at 8:07 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2002, at her home. Visitation will be 
            from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in 
            Lincoln. Her funeral will be 
            at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, with Ted Harvey 
            officiating. Burial will be in 
            Zion Cemetery, Lincoln. Mrs. Veff retired 
            from Eaton Corporation as an assembler in 1972. She had also worked 
            at Armour’s. She was born Sept. 
            13, 1929, in Mason City to Raymond and Helen Frazier Auxier. She 
            married Glenn Veff on April 17, 1959, in Havana. Surviving are her 
            husband, of Lincoln; one son, William Veff of Clinton; four 
            daughters, Diana (and Jim) Brennan of Springfield, Linda (and Butch) 
            Logan of Atlanta, Carolyn Armstrong of Clinton and Linda (and Cliff) 
            McBenge of Charleston; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 
            three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in 
            death by her parents, one brother and one granddaughter. She was a member of 
            the Christian Church of Mason City and of the VFW Auxiliary. Memorials may be made to Hospice of 
            Central Illinois.

            David Tibbs David G. Tibbs, 56, 
            of New Holland died at 5:10 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2002, at Abraham 
            Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. Visitation will be 
            from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in 
            Lincoln. 
            His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in New 
            Holland, with the Rev. Tom Phillips officiating. Burial will be in 
            Richmond Grove Cemetery, New Holland. Tibbs was the retired 
            owner and operator of Tibbs-Bismark and Garrison Insurance in 
            Lincoln. He was born Feb. 26, 
            1946, in Lincoln to Paul E. "Abe" and Anna Juhl Tibbs. He married 
            Sharon Balzarini on Jan. 7, 1967, in Oglesby. Surviving are his 
            wife, of New Holland; his mother, of New Holland; two daughters, 
            Trisha Tibbs of Clarendon Hills and Margo (and Doug) Roethlisberger 
            of Sugar Grove; one granddaughter, Allyson Miller of Sugar Grove; 
            one grandson, Colin Roethlisberger of Sugar Grove; two brothers, 
            Darrell "Wes" (and Debbie) Tibbs of Lincoln and Dennis (and Beverly) 
            Tibbs of New Holland; and Gerda Tibbs of Mason City, an aunt whom 
            David cared for. He was preceded in 
            death by his father. He was a member of 
            Zion Lutheran Church of New Holland, National Street Rod 
            Association, Good Guy Rod and Custom Club, and New Old Stock Club. Memorials may be made to the David G. 
            Tibbs Cancer Fund or to the donor’s choice.

            Charles ‘Tal’ Banister Charles William "Tal" 
            Banister, 79, of Lincoln died at 12:25 a.m. Thursday, July 18, 2002, 
            at Maple Ridge Care Centre in Lincoln. Visitation will be 
            from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in 
            Lincoln. His funeral, also at 
            Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Greg 
            Wooten will officiate. Burial, with military 
            rites, will be in Irish Grove Cemetery, Middletown. Banister retired in 
            1985 as a janitor as Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. He was a U.S. Army 
            veteran of World War II. He was born Feb. 4, 
            1923, in Menard County to Samuel L. and Lottie Whiteman Banister. He 
            married Mary Jane Hanson on Jan. 14, 1949, in Lincoln. She died Dec. 
            22, 1959. He married Bethel Newcome on Jan. 21, 1966, in Lincoln. 
            She survives. Also surviving are 
            four sons, Charles A. (and Linda) Banister, David E. (and Becky) 
            Banister, Roy "Willie" (and Jo) Banister and Vern (and Vicky) 
            Banister, all of Lincoln; 11 grandchildren and four 
            stepgrandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Vernon 
            Banister of Lincoln; and four sisters, Katie Voyles, Vivian "Boots" 
            Skelton, Evelyn Ware and Phyllis Deavers, all of Lincoln. He was also preceded 
            in death by two sisters. He was a member of 
            Lincoln Church of the Nazarene and American Legion Post 162 of 
            Middletown. Memorials may be made to Maple Ridge Care 
            Centre.

            Vicki McGrath 
            Vicki Viola McGrath, 37, of Lincoln died at 1:50 a.m. Friday, July 
            19, 2002, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. 
            Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at 
            Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. 
            Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader. 
            Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, Beason. 
            Mrs. McGrath was a housewife. 
            She was born June 17, 1965, in Lincoln to James and Rose Van Fossan 
            Edwards. She married Randy McGrath on Aug. 27, 1999, in Lincoln. He 
            survives. 
            Also surviving are her mother and stepfather, Rose and Ron Musick of 
            Lincoln; her father, James Edwards of Beason; one son, Dalton 
            McGrath of Lincoln; one daughter, Megan McGrath of Lincoln; one 
            sister, Carol Edwards of Lincoln; her maternal grandmother, Virgie 
            Van Fossan of Lincoln; and her paternal grandmother, Elizabeth 
            Edwards of Beason. 
            She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandfathers. 
            She was of the Christian faith.

            E. Gilberta Young E. Gilberta Young, 
            71, of Bloomington, formerly of Atlanta, died at 11:55 p.m. 
            Thursday, July 18, 2002, at the home of her daughter in rural 
            Atlanta. Graveside services 
            will be at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Atlanta Cemetery. The Rev. David 
            Venter will officiate. Following the 
            services, friends may call at the rural Atlanta home of Deb and Jim 
            Schmalshof, (217) 648-5095. Quiram Funeral Home, 
            Atlanta, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Young retired 
            from the State Farm Credit Union after 24 years of service. She was born Aug. 26, 
            1930, at Atlanta to Gilbert and Elsie Foote Gordon. She married E. 
            Bruce Young on June 11, 1948, in Atlanta. He died Feb. 5, 1975. Survivors are Donald 
            Colaw of Bloomington; three daughters, Deborah (and John) Schmalshof 
            of Atlanta, Brucette Zirn of Duluth, Minn., and Marcella Gonzalez of 
            Westerville, Ohio; one son, Gary Lynn Young of Jacksonville, Fla.; 
            eight grandchildren, Travis Tackett, Misty Bowersock, Erica Young, 
            Silas Zirn, Rachel Zirn, Bruce Gonzalez, Brent Gonzalez and Dakota 
            Young; and three great-grandchildren, Hannah, Jacob and Tanner 
            Bowersock. She was also preceded 
            in death by her parents; one brother, Bill; and one sister, Shirley. She was an avid 
            dancer, and her hobbies included painting, gardening and her pets. Memorial contributions may be made to OSF
