Anne
Freda Loercher, 96, formerly of Bloomington, died at 5:30 p.m.
Sunday, March 24, 2002, at the Christian Village Nursing Home in
Lincoln.
Her
funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 29, at Holland and Barry
Funeral Home, Lincoln. The Rev. Rich Reinwald and the Rev. Mark
Hamner will officiate.
Visitation
will be one hour before the service.
Burial
will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mrs.
Loercher taught grade school several seasons and was later on the
staff of State Farm Insurance Companies.
She
was born April 1, 1905, in Saybrook to Max R. and Louisa Hass
Begolka. She married Henry P. Loercher on Dec. 18, 1929, in Lincoln.
He preceded her in death.
She
was also preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur, Walter and
Harry Begolka, and four sisters, Rose (infant), Lillie Begolka, Emma
(wife of George) Opperman and Dorothy (wife of Vernet) Robinson.
She
is survived by her brother Raymond (and wife Evelyn) Begolka.
Her
many civic interests included serving as secretary, publicity
chairman, director, parliamentarian, chaplain, vice president and
president of the Bloomington Woman’s Club; president of
Bloomington Regional Women’s Guild; and on the board of the YMCA
and the Miller Park Zoo board. She was also a member of the McLean
County Home Bureau and Brokaw Hospital Service League.
She
was a member of St. Luke’s Church in Bloomington. She had served
as president of the National Missions of the church and taught
intermediate and senior Sunday School.
She
was confirmed May 27, 1928, at St. John United Church of Christ in
Lincoln.
She
graduated from Atlanta High School and attended Illinois Wesleyan
University.

Bloomington.

Skaggs
Lester
Skaggs, 84, of Mount Pulaski died at 11:15 p.m. Saturday, March 23,
2002, at his home.
His
funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 26, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral home in Mount Pulaski. Gerald Goodman will officiate.
Visitation
will be at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour
before the service on Tuesday.
Burial
will be in Lake Bank Cemetery.
Skaggs
was a retired farmer.
He
was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He
was born Jan. 31, 1918, in Horntown, Ky., to Charles and Angie B.
Skaggs. He married Imogene Williams on April 26, 1947, in
Louisville, Ky.
Surviving
are his wife, of Mount Pulaski; one son, Alan Kevan (and Jo) Skaggs
of Mount Pulaski; one daughter, Nena Karen (and Tony) Parn of
Groveland; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two
brothers, Stanley (and Kathryn) Skaggs of Birmingham, Ala., and
Robert (and Opal) Skaggs of Leitchfield, Ky.; and four sisters,
Loretta (and Wilford) Meredith of Leitchfield, Ky., Dealta McDowell
of Clarkson, Ky., Marie Clark of Leitchfield, Ky., and Sarah (and
Roger) Metcalfe of Leitchfield, Ky.
He
was also preceded in death by three brothers.
He
was a member of Mount Pulaski First United Methodist Church.

Dennis
Ray Bracey, 49, of Canton, formerly of Middletown, died at 6:15 a.m.
Saturday, March 23, 2002, at Renaissance Care Center in Canton.
He
was a student resident.
Bracey
was cremated.
Private
services will be at a later date, with interment in Lake Bank
Cemetery, Mount Pulaski.

Bracey
was born April 21, 1952, in Lincoln to Smith W. and Mary A. Gasaway
Bracey.
Surviving
are two brothers, Steven (and Debbie) Bracey of Williamsville and
Roy (and Peggy) Bracey of Chenoa; one sister, Carol Blake of
Meansville, Ga.; three nieces; and four nephews.
He
was preceded in death by his parents.

Richard Kerrigan
J.
Richard Kerrigan, 82, of Lincoln died at 10:42 p.m. Sunday, March
24, 2002, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Visitation
will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, at Kerrigan Funeral Home
in Lincoln. The rosary will be at 5 p.m. and the wake service at
6:45 p.m.
Funeral
services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, at Holy Family
Church in Lincoln, with Monsignor Edward Higgins officiating.
Burial,
with military rites, will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lincoln.
Kerrigan
was associated with his father as a partner and later became owner
of the Kerrigan Funeral Home.
He
was a U.S. Navy veteran with 42 months of service in the South
Pacific. He was discharged as a full lieutenant following World War
II.
He
was born Oct. 20, 1919, in Flanagan to John and Elizabeth Arnold
Kerrigan. He married Arlene Acton on May 23, 1942, at the University
of Notre Dame, South Bend, Ind. She died May 29, 2000.
Surviving
are two sons, Dennis Kerrigan of Northbrook and Kevin Kerrigan of
Burr Ridge; two daughters, Dr. Patricia Bunke of Naples, Fla., and
Mara Richardson, of Gaffney, S.C.; seven grandchildren; and two
sisters, Margaret Helget of Omaha, Neb., and Rita Weise of Garland,
Texas.
He
was also preceded in death by one son.
He
was a member of Holy Family Church in Lincoln, past grand knight and
faithful navigator of the 3rd and 4th degree
Knights of Columbus, and a member of Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, Eagles
Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, 40 and 8, American Legion Post and
the chamber of commerce, all of Lincoln. He served three years as
president of the board of directors of St. Clara’s Manor in
Lincoln during the formative years of the nursing home. He was a
Democratic candidate for Lincoln mayor in 1964 and served for 16
years on the Police Pension Board.
He
graduated from Lincoln High School in 1937 and received his bachelor’s
degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1941. He graduated from
Cincinnati College of Embalming in 1942 and received his funeral
director and embalmers license in 1946, following his military
service.

Cecil
H. Luthe, 81, of Mark Twain Manor in Bridgeton, Mo., died at 9:45
p.m. Friday, March 22, 2002, at DePaul Hospital in Bridgeton.
His
funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at Holland and
Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Thomas Baker
officiating.
Visitation
will be one hour before the service.
Burial,
with military rites, will be in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.
Before
his retirement, Luthe worked as a tool and die maker for
McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis, Mo.
He
served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, from 1942 to 1945.
He
was born Aug. 2, 1920, in Decatur to Earl Edwin and Flossie Viola
Walters Luthe. He married Edna Maria Louise Krueger on June 3, 1957,
at Shelbyville.
Surviving
are his wife, of Bridgeton, Mo.; her caretakers for the past 16
years, Thomas and Anna Marie Noonan of Fenton, Mo., along with niece
Gina Marie Nordmann of Bridgeton, Mo.; one brother Albert Luthe of
Bolivar, Tenn.; and three sisters, Anna Mae Williamson of Findlay,
Helen Price of Decatur and Betty Mathis of Savoy; and several
nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He
was preceded in death by a stepson, Ronald Arthur Miller; two
brothers, Raymond and Austin Luthe; and one sister, Bernadine Luthe.
He
was a member of St. James Lutheran Church of Hanley Hills, Mo.
