Marguerite Noe
Marguerite E. Noe,
84, of Chestnut died at 8:35 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at
Vonderlieth Living Center in Mount Pulaski.
Her funeral will be
at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount
Pulaski. Cleveland Bradfield will officiate. Visitation will be two
hours before the service.
Burial will be in
Laenna Cemetery, Chestnut.
Mrs. Noe retired from
the Illinois Department of Public Aid, where she was a clerical
worker.
She was born May 8,
1918, in Lexington, Ky., to William M. and Elizabeth Reynolds
Stilwell. She married Clarence Noe in Lexington, Ky., on May 11,
1959. He died Jan. 5, 1994.
Surviving are one
son, Larry W. (and Patricia) Noe of Decatur; two granddaughters,
Vikki (and Kurt) Eltvedt of Cary and Cindi (and Jason) Mackling of
Decatur; and four great-grandchildren, Zoey Mackling, Kaelyn
Mackling and Ashlyn Mackling, all of Decatur, and Tyler Eltvedt of
Cary.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s

Francis Bateman
Francis Luke Bateman,
91, of Lincoln died at 3:55 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002.
His funeral will be
at 11 a.m. Monday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount
Pulaski. Bill Shanle will officiate. Visitation will be one hour
before the service.
Burial will be in
Mount Pulaski Cemetery.
Bateman was a farmer
in Logan County and retired from the Logan County Farm Service.
He was born Jan. 9,
1911, at Bible Grove to Pearl and Eva Vickery Bateman. He married
Evelyn Donnan in Lincoln on June 8, 1933.
Bateman is survived
by his wife, of Lincoln; two sons, Leland Bateman of Springfield and
Garland Bateman of Whiteville, N.C.; one daughter, Phyllis Blaum of
Mount Pulaski; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one
great-great-grandchild; and three sisters, Lucille (and Arnold)
Heins, Thelma Gilbert and Juanita Farmer, all of Florida.
He was preceded in
death by three brothers and three sisters.
He was a member of
Mount Pulaski United Methodist Church and a past member of the Odd
Fellows Lodge of Lincoln and the Lincoln Civil Air Patrol.
Memorials may be made to the American
Heart Association or St. Clara’s Manor.

Marguarite F. Berger
Marguarite F. Berger, 93, passed away at 5:15 a.m., Saturday,
October 05, 2002. She resided at the Christian Village Nursing Home,
Lincoln.
Ms. Berger was born to August A. and Louise K. (Eberle) Berger on
October 23, 1908 in Logan County. She was preceded in death by her
parents and one brother, Paul A. Berger. She is survived by two
cousins, George Eberle and Shirley Edwards of Lincoln.
She worked as a secretary for the State of Illinois Agriculture
Department. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ
and the Order of the Eastern Star. She graduated Lincoln Community
High School and attended Lincoln College.
Visitation is at Holland and Barry Funeral Home, Lincoln, Tuesday
from 6 – 7 p.m.
Reverend Richard Reinwald will conduct a graveside service 9 a.m.,
Wednesday at Old Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Memorials may be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ.

Claude Blankenship
Claude Blankenship,
85, of Atlanta died at 4:35 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at Abraham
Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be
from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Lincoln, with the rosary at 4:30 p.m.
His funeral will be
at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Church in Lincoln, with Father
Thomas Taylor officiating.
Burial, with military
rites, will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lincoln.
Blankenship retired
from Caterpillar Tractor Co.
He was a U.S. Army
veteran of World War II and served in the European Theatre from 1941
to 1946.
He was born Dec. 18,
1916, in Gradyville, Ky., to Preston and Nora Tarter Blankenship. He
married Alta Schlifflet in 1940, and she died in 1961. He married
Dorothy Knecht on July 30, 1966, at St. Mary’s Church in Lincoln.
She survives.
Other survivors are
two brothers, Lindsey (and Mary) Blankenship of Atlanta and Omar
(and Juanita) Blankenship of Marshall, and several nieces and
nephews.
He was also preceded
in death by one brother, one sister, a nephew and a niece.
He was a member of
Holy Family Church in Lincoln, a third-degree member of the Knights
of Columbus Council 1250, a 56-year member of the Atlanta American
Legion Gresham-Crutchley Post 341, a charter member of the National
World War II Memorial and a member of United Auto Workers Local 974.
He was an avid fan of
the "wait until next year" Cubs team.

Jeffrey Starr Lipp,
30, of Mount Pulaski died at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at
Culbertson Hospital in Rushville.
Visitation will be
from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Mount Pulaski.
His funeral will be
at 2 p.m. Monday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader in Mount Pulaski, with
the Rev. Ken Berryman officiating.
Burial will be in
Mount Pulaski Cemetery.
He was born Sept. 9,
1972, in Lincoln to Frederick A. and Patsy Starr Lipp Jr.
Surviving are his
parents, of Mount Pulaski; one brother, Fred A. (and Pam) Lipp III
of Riverton; one niece; and one nephew.
He was preceded in
death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
He was a member of
St. John’s Lutheran Church of Mount Pulaski, the National Rifle
Association and the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association.

Syndrome Association or Lutheran Social Service of Illinois –
Washington Place.
