PROGRAMS
For Kids and Adults |
SIGN LANGUAGE
Linda Schaefer will be our sign language instructor. She received her
Masters in Specialized Educational
Development from ISU. In her work at LDC with persons who have various
disabilities, she
taught the individuals who lived there and also a number of sign
language classes for the staff. She also
interprets worship every Sunday for those individuals who use sign
language as their primary means of
communications.
This course is designed to help people wishing to develop communication
with persons using sign language
for basic communication needs. The primary participants in the class are
caregivers for individuals
with special needs including those persons, who are deaf, those with
significant hearing loss and those with
minimal verbal skills. While anyone is welcome to join this class, the
focus will be on daily conversation
needs of persons with limited communication skills rather than advanced
ASL capabilities.
This is a six-week course meeting on Saturdays from January 24 through
February 28, 2004.
#170 Adults 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. $20.00 per person

BINGO
Where do you go to enjoy a fun evening out and support a great local
agency?
Right here at the Park District.
The Park District is the host for the “Oasis” Senior Center weekly Bingo
games. Proceeds from this fun
and fast paced game are used to help offset the programs, services and
activities offered to the seniors in our community. It is definitely a
win - win situation for you and the seniors. While you may not be lucky
enough to shout BINGO, you know in your heart you are helping our
seniors. The Park District along with the Oasis encourage you to come
out each Tuesday evening at 6:50 for a great night of Bingo. Sandwiches
and light dinner type foods are available for purchase at a nominal
price from the on-sight caterer.
What’s that I hear? BINGO!!! |
RED CROSS BLOOD BANK

LOCKER ROOMS/SAUNA
As a part of our remodeling we included new Locker Rooms. They have been
updated with a new floor plan, paint, and more. Lockers may be rented on
a monthly basis. Fee information is available at the front desk. For
single day use, coin return lockers are available also. New to our
plan is the addition of a family changing locker room. This room is
intended for Moms and Dads with opposite gender young children to be
able to get everyone ready for the pool in a private room. Last summer
was the first time we got to use this newest area and it was welcomed by
the many parents who took advantage of the space.
One of the most frequently asked questions is are you going to have a
Sauna? You bet we do. What better way to chase off the chill of winter!
Our new sauna is located next to our Family Changing Room. Our sauna
offers a choice of dry or moist heat. Use of the sauna is free if you
have a Lincoln Park District membership or pay the daily fee. |
BASKETBALL
Due to construction delays there is still time to put a team together
and register for this season. Rosters will be accepted until Sunday,
December 21. Schedules will be available Friday, December 26. League
play will begin on January 7, 2004. All information is available at the
front desk. |

information sheets are available at the front desk. Registration will
end December 28. League play will be on Tuesday evenings. |
COURT SPACE
Now that our remodeling is complete we have four courts to offer you.
One is for tennis. The second one is tennis & basketball. The third and
fourth are basketball and volleyball. If you are looking for a way to
beat the winter doldrums maybe a little court time with some friends is
the answer. For special occasions we might be able to reserve a court
for your organization or youth group. Necessary equipment is
provided by the Park District. Call Roy at the Centers Office on Primm
Road and let him help you plan your sports oriented event. |
