Mary Aderman
Mary Aderman, 77, of
Lincoln died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at 1:15 p.m. at St. Clara's
Manor.
Visitation will be
from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Lincoln.
Her funeral will be
at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, with Tom Gerdts
officiating.
Burial will be in
Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.
Mrs. Aderman was a
painter at Stetson China Factory for six years, was employed by the
Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service for five years,
worked in the snack bar at Kroger and was a bookkeeper at Logan
County Bank.
She was born April
20, 1925, in Logan County to Clem L. and Anna L. Fink Garton. She
married Donald W. Aderman in Lincoln on March 25, 1945, and he died
Jan. 27, 1981.
Surviving are one
son, Kenny (and Kathy) Aderman of Atlanta; one daughter, Janis (and
Dale) Coffman of Wooldridge, Mo.; six grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Iola (and Albert) Gehlbach of
Lincoln and Lois (and Julian) Schmidt of Mount Pulaski.
She was also preceded
in death by two brothers and two sisters.
She was a member of
First Christian Church of Lincoln and the Friendship Corner class of
the church. She was also a charter member of Eagles Auxiliary 2708,
past president of Lincoln Woman's Club and past vice president of
Chester Woman's Club.

Mae Powell
Mae E. Powell, 83, of Lincoln died
Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at 9:25 a.m. at Maple Ridge Care Centre.
There
will be no services.
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home of
Lincoln is in charge of cremation and arrangements.
Mrs. Powell had worked at Lincoln
Developmental Center and formerly cooked at S.S. Kresge in Lincoln.
She was born Feb. 9, 1920, in Dawson to
Lloyd and Nellie Abbott. She married Reuben Powell.
Surviving are one daughter, Vivian
"Vicki" Patterson of Chatham; two grandchildren; and seven
great-grandchildren.
She was
preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter, three sisters
and two brothers.

Kenneth Kafka
Kenneth J. Kafka, 53,
of Springfield, formerly of Mount Pulaski, died Monday, Feb. 17,
2003, at 8:13 a.m. at his home.
Visitation will be
from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Mount Pulaski.
The funeral will be
at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader in Mount Pulaski.
Bill Shanle and John Standard will officiate.
Burial will be in
Mount Pulaski Cemetery.
Mr. Kafka was a disc
jockey and radio announcer in Havana, Jacksonville and Springfield.
He also worked for the Illinois Department of Public Instruction.
He was born July 30,
1949, in Murray, Ky., to Joseph and Janie O'Bryan Kafka.
He is survived by his
parents; one sister, Camille (and Robert) Chiles; one nephew,
Michael Chiles; and one niece, Sheila Cantrall, all of Rochester.
Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
He graduated from
Mount Pulaski High School and attended DeVry Institute and Southern
Illinois University at Carbondale.

Harmon Buchholz
Harmon Edward Buchholz, 79, of Lincoln died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003,
at 6:05 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Visitation was on Wednesday at Good Shepherd
Lutheran Church in Lincoln.
His
funeral was at the church Thursday morning, with Pastor
Roger David officiating.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
Arrangements are being handled by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral
Home in Lincoln.
Mr.
Buchholz farmed in Sheridan Township for 43 years before he retired.
He
was born Jan. 31, 1924, in New Holland to Ervin and Vesta Darnell
Buchholz. He married Alma Aderman on Jan. 26, 1947, in Lincoln. She
survives.
Also surviving are one son, Bruce (and Terrica) Buchholz of New
Holland; two daughters, Joyce (and Thomas) Connor of Hillsboro and
Lori Lynn Jackson of Dublin, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Jenny (and
Jason) Eric of Dallas, Texas, Jeremy and Chase Connor of Hillsboro,
Kelly Buchholz of Springfield, Tera and Blake Buchholz of New
Holland, and Luke Jackson of Dublin, Calif.; and one sister, Lois
(and Warren) Smith of Lincoln.
Mr.
Buchholz was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge
1441, Lincoln Elks 914 and the National Foundation of Elks. He had
served on the New Holland-Middletown school board for nine years.
He
was a graduate of New Holland High School.

Violet McConnell
Violet Fay Margaret
McConnell, 87, of Lincoln died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at 6:25 p.m.
in the intensive care unit at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. She
was a resident of the Christian Village Nursing Home.
Visitation will be
from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Holland and Barry in Lincoln.
Her funeral will be
at 11 a.m. Friday at Holland and Barry, with Tom Gerdts, Paul Odom
and Ryan Edgecombe officiating.
Burial will be in
Lucas Chapel cemetery, Lincoln.
Mrs. McConnell was a
homemaker. She also worked at the Lincoln News Agency and as a
bookkeeper at Kenshalo Rousey.
She was born Nov. 6,
1915, in rural Lincoln to Phillip C. and Margaret Phoebe Steinhauer.
She married Ted McConnell on March 21, 1945, in Lincoln, and he died
April 4, 1990.
Surviving are nephews
Kenneth Seefeldt of Lincoln, James Steinhauer of Paradise, Texas,
and Robert Steinhauer of Joliet, Mont., and nieces Phyllis Camp of
Lincoln, Betty Cobb of Oregon and Bonnie Sonnenmaker of Arkansas.
She was preceded in
death by one sister, Viola May Seefeldt, and three brothers, Burnell,
Buford and Henry Woodrow Steinhauer. She was the last of her
immediate family.
She was a member of
Lincoln Christian Church, served on the Deaconess Board at the
church for 30 years and was a member of the Yadnus and Good Cheer
classes. She was a charter member of the Jolly Seniors, in which she
held many offices. She was also a member of AARP, a charter member
of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Christian Village Nursing Home and
captain of Neighborhood Watch of East Lincoln.

Alta Wonsavage
Alta May Wonsavage,
92, of Lincoln died at home at 3:01 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2003.
A graveside service
was Thursday morning in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lincoln, with the Rev.
James Sprinkel officiating.
Kerrigan-Peasley
Funeral Home of Lincoln was in charge of arrangements. There was
no visitation.
She was born Dec. 11,
1910, in Manchester, Kan., to Bert and Emma Harder House. She
married Edward Wonsavage on Oct. 16, 1942, in Kansas. He died in
November of 1986.
Surviving are three
daughters, Doris Wonsavage of Lincoln, Bernice Fontaine of Nixon,
Mo., and Clara (and Steve) Vaughan of Mount Pulaski; eight
grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Frieda
Donaldson of Oakhill, Kan., and Dorothy Vaughn of Lebanon, Tenn.
Mrs. Wonsavage was a member of the
Assembly of God in Mason City, and memorials may be made to the
church building fund.

Boward
Jerry J. Boward, 54, of Middletown died
Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, at 7:58 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial
Hospital.
Visitation was on
Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday
at Middletown United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Henry Cox
officiating.
Burial, with military rites, will be in
Irish Grove Cemetery, Middletown.
Mr. Boward retired from Caterpillar
Tractor Co. in East Peoria after 30 years of employment.
He served in the U.S. Army during the
Vietnam War.
He was born June 22, 1948, in
Lincoln to Raymond E. and Jane Bennett Boward. He married Debra
Reynolds on July 17, 1971, in Lincoln.
Surviving are his wife, of
Middletown; two sons, Brad Boward of Lincoln and Bret Boward (and
fiancee Amber) of Lincoln; his parents, Kenneth and Jane Johnson of
Lincoln; one brother, David (and Diane) Johnson of Middletown; and
one sister, Linda (and Randy) Rodems of Oak Ridge, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his
father and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
He was a member of Middletown
United Methodist Church, Greenview Masonic Lodge 653, Voiture 985 of
40 et 8, UAW Local 974, VFW1756 and AMVETS 179. He was also a
member, past commander and current treasurer of American Legion Post
672 and current commander of Logan County Council of the American
Legion.
