Lloyd Hellman
Lloyd E. Hellman, 71,
of Emden died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003 at 6:04 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln
Memorial Hospital.
His funeral will be at
11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Emden, with
Pastor David J. Hofer and the Rev. Frank Pieper officiating.
Visitation will be
from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in
Lincoln and at the church one hour before the service on Wednesday.
Burial, with military
rites, will be in Hartsburg Union Cemetery.
Mr. Hellman farmed in
the Atlanta, Beason, Hartsburg and Emden areas and was a member of
the Logan County Board.
He served in the U.S.
Army from 1952 to 1954.
He was born Oct. 16,
1931, in Lincoln to Harold and Margaret Bruns Hellman. He married
Alberta Luken on June 29, 1952, in San Jose. She survives.
Also surviving are a
son, Brent (and Bonnie) Hellman of Emden; a daughter, Ann Marie (and
Brian) Hilgendorf of Emden; three grandsons, Blaine Hellman and
Taylor and Timothy Hilgendorf; and two brothers, Norman (and
Loretta) Hellman of Emden and Don (and Donna) Hellman of Lincoln.
He was also preceded
in death by his parents and one brother, Melvin.
He was a member of the
Logan County Farm Bureau board and Prairie Creek Drainage District.
He had been a Hartsburg-Emden school board director, served 28 years
as a Farm Credit director, was past commander of the Emden American
Legion Post, and was a director of the Logan County Conservation
Agency.
Memorials may be made to the donor's

Edith Krohn
Edith Krohn, 92,
formerly of San Jose, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at 11:30 a.m. at
her home in Aurora.
Visitation will be
from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hurley Funeral Home, 603 E. Chestnut
in Mason City.
Her funeral will be
at 11 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Mason City,
with the Rev. Bruce Bolin-Ghitalla officiating.
Burial will be in
Green Valley Cemetery, Green Valley.
Mrs. Krohn was a
homemaker.
She was born April
13, 1910, at Manito to George and Julia Rolfs Meeker. She married
Walter Krohn in California in 1945. He died in 1963.
Surviving are two
sons, Frank (and Barbara) Krohn of Aurora and Mark John (and Tammi)
Krohn of Crystal Lake; one daughter, Julia Louise (and Jerry)
Glattfelt of Landstul, Germany; and four grandchildren.
She was also preceded
in death by two brothers and three sisters.
She was a member of
the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Aurora.

John Johnson
John O. Johnson, 91,
of Lincoln died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at 5:35 p.m. at Maple Ridge
Care Centre in Lincoln.
Visitation will be
from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Lincoln.
His funeral will be
at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader, with Tom Gerdts
officiating.
Burial will be in
Richmond Grove Cemetery, rural New Holland.
Mr. Johnson retired
in 1979 from farming in the New Holland area.
He was born Aug. 19,
1911, at Beason to William and Hilda Stoline Johnson. He married
Norma J. Shoup in Lincoln on Feb. 16, 1935. She survives.
Also surviving are
three sons, Loren (and Frances) Johnson of Morton, Lyle (and
Cherilyn) Johnson of Lincoln and Raymond (and Jan) Johnson of
Normal; one daughter, Joan Poole of Bloomington; seven
grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marie
Hubbard of Hudson.
He was preceded in
death by five brothers, Frank, Carl, Ed, Elmer and Albert Johnson.
He was a member of
Lincoln Christian Church and the Logan County Farm Bureau.
He enjoyed many years
of fishing and bowling and was the horseshoe pitching champion at
the 1955 Logan County Fair.
