Annie Chadwick

Annie Chadwick, 89, of Lincoln, formerly of Mason City, died Wednesday (Oct. 22, 2003) at 1:45 a.m. at Maple Ridge Care Centre.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City, with Pastor Bruce Bolin-Ghitalla officiating.

Burial will be in Auburn, Ky. A graveside service in Auburn Cemetery will be at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Mrs. Chadwick worked as a caregiver.

She was born April 21, 1914, in Logan County, Ky., to John T. and Ida E. Ferrell Bentley. She married E. Oney Reed on Jan. 2, 1932, and he died in 1937. She married Frank J. Chadwick on July 2, 1937, and he died in 1972.

Survivors are one son, William (and Ada) Reed of Orlando, Fla.; two daughters, Judy (and Keith) Hilst of Mason City and Sheila Evans of Lincoln; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Opal Easton, Gathryn (and Melvin) Thomas and Edna (and Horace) Rector, all of Auburn, Ky.

She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter; one son, Lloyd Chadwick; one grandson; two brothers; and five sisters.

She was an active member of Mason City United Methodist Church.

She was an avid quilter and did other needlework, loved flower gardening and cooking, and baby-sat for many years.

Effie Carey

Effie Carey, 87, died Tuesday (Oct. 21, 2003) at 3:05 p.m. at the Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hartsburg, with the Rev. David Russell officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Holland and Barry Funeral Home in Lincoln and one hour before the service at the church on Friday.

Burial will be in Hartsburg Union Cemetery.

Mrs. Carey was a homemaker for her family.

She was born Feb. 8, 1916, at Hartsburg to John and Minnie Zieglowsky Lolling. She married Eugene Cary on Sept. 22, 1940, in Hartsburg. He died Sept. 29, 1985.

Survivors are one daughter, Barbara Lechleiter (and Ed) of Lincoln; one son, Bob Carey (and Liz) of Litchfield, Ky.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bernadine Lacey and Anna Eeten, both of Hartsburg; and one brother, Carl Lolling of Hartsburg.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Henry "Bud" Lolling; her twin, Jennee Tholen; and another sister, Augusta Scales.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Hartsburg, to which memorials may be made.


Helen 'Susie' Harwood

Helen "Susie" F. Harwood, 69, of Lincoln died Tuesday (Oct. 21, 2003) at 2:30 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Marianna Taylor officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday and one hour before the service on Friday.

Burial will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Mrs. Harwood was a retired certified nurses aide. She had worked at the Christian Village for 15 years.

She was born July 13, 1934, in Lincoln to David and Mary Emery Allen. She married Herbert J. Harwood on March 18, 1967, in Jacksonville.

Survivors are her husband, of Lincoln; three sons, Terry (and Ruby) Allen of Lincoln, Scott Douglas Harwood of Mattoon and Donald Lloyd Harwood of Lincoln; three stepgrandchildren; one brother, Harold Allen of Cincinnati, Ohio; and one sister, Gertrude "Sally" Kellenburger of Brookston, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, David Allen.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of Illinois.

Darrell Graue

Darrell Graue, 82, of Lincoln died Tuesday (Oct. 21, 2003) at 3:15 p.m. at his home.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. There will be a rosary service at 4 p.m.

His funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Thomas Taylor officiating.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lincoln.

Mr. Graue farmed in the Elkhart area for 37 before he retired and moved to Lincoln.

He was born April 24, 1921, at Elkhart to Walter and Gertrude Lee Graue. He married Norma Jean Huffman in Lincoln on Dec. 15, 1945. She survives.

Other survivors are one son, Dennis (and Valerie) Graue of Lincoln; three grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren, Eric (and Traci) Graue, Chad (and Katie) Graue, Seth Graue, Erica DeLosSantos, Robby DeLosSantos and Alex DeLosSantos; two great-grandchildren, Lauren Jean Graue and Abbie Jane Graue; and several nieces and nephews.

He was a member of Holy Family Church of Lincoln. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus, Elks 914 and Logan County Farm Bureau.

He was a 4-H leader for Elkhart Ag for many years, a Hurlbut Township trustee, a member of the St. Clara's Manor board from 1989 to 1995, two-term chairman of the Extension council and served on the Farm Home Administration board.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of Illinois or Carroll Catholic School.

Daniel Candlish Jr.

Daniel H. Candlish Jr., 55, of Lincoln died Tuesday (Oct. 21, 2003) at 2:23 p.m. at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. There will be a rosary service at 4 p.m.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Thomas Taylor officiating.

Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.

Mr. Candlish was a retired auditor. He had worked in a government office for veterans.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1971.

He was born Sept. 22, 1948, in Kokomo, Ind., to Daniel H. and Suda Carolyn Nelson Candlish.

Survivors are his father and stepmother, Daniel and Marie Candlish of Hemet, Calif.; his fiancée, Ruth E. Bogart of Lincoln; three sons, David Charles Candlish of Richmond, Ind., Terry Lee (and Michelle) Candlish of Simi Valley, Calif., and William Pete Candlish of Virginia Beach, Va., formerly of Lincoln; one daughter, Heidi Pauline Barrick of Virginia Beach., Va.; 32 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mike (and Anita) McKelroy of Riverside, Calif., and Stanley Ray Candlish Sr. of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; and two sisters, Brenda Sue (and Greg) Davenport of Sacramento, Calif., and Linda (and Dan) Green of Ventura, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

He was a member of Holy Family Church in Lincoln.

Robert Angotti

Robert J. Angotti, 76, of Mason City died Monday (Oct. 20, 2003) at 1 p.m. at his home.

Visitation was Wednesday evening at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City.

His funeral was Thursday morning at First Christian Church in Mason City, with the Rev. Dustin Fulton and the Rev. William Boyce officiating.

Burial is in Mason City Cemetery.

Mr. Angotti was retired from Ainsworth Seed Co., where he worked 23 years.

He was born July 29, 1927, in Mammoth Spring, Ark., to Charles W. and Jenny Lamb Angotti. He married Hazel Major on March 8, 1950, in Mammoth Spring, Ark. She survives.

Other survivors are one son, Larry (and Laura) Angotti of Ankeny, Iowa; two daughters, Carolyn (and Tony) Armour of Mason City and Wanda (and Steve) McLaughlin of Greenview; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harold Angotti of Mammoth Spring, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Mason City.
