[OCT. 22, 2003]  The Oasis, Logan County's senior citizen center, 501 Pulaski St. in Lincoln, is open weekdays (except holidays) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center is also open on Friday and Sunday nights for table games. Dominic Dalpoas is the executive director. Activities are open to all Logan County senior citizens, regardless of membership.

Van trip to Grand Prairie

A few seats are available for the shopping trip to the new Grand Prairie Mall in Peoria on Tuesday, Oct. 28. A payment of $8 for members and $10 for nonmembers covers transportation. Lunch is on your own. Reservations need to be made by 4 p.m. Thursday.

Computer classes

A few seats are available for the Computer Basics, Word Processing and E-mail/Internet classes in November. The sessions run from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. The fee is $15 for members and $18 for nonmembers. Call 732-6132 for a reservation.

Thursday bingo

AARP sponsors the bingo game activity starting at 1 p.m. Thursday. Just bring yourself and friend. There are enough prizes for this week's games.

Remember, Oct. 27 before noon is the last chance to buy your $3.50 ticket for the special fifth Thursday breakfast bingo on Oct. 30. Breakfast is scheduled for 9 a.m. and bingo starts at 10.

Tuesday lunch program

Noon Oct. 27 is also the deadline to buy your ticket for the Oct. 28 lunch of spaghetti with meatballs, salad, bread and butter, and dessert, served at 11:30 a.m. Lunch is $3.50; stay and play cards or table games and the ticket is $3.

Insurance assistance

The Senior Health Insurance Program, sponsored by the Illinois Department of Insurance, is a free statewide insurance counseling service for Medicare beneficiaries of all ages and their caregivers. A counselor is available each Thursday at the senior center from 2 to 4 p.m. by appointment. Call 732-6132.

SHARE orders

Food orders are available for pickup between 4 and 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at the senior center. You may also place an order for next month. The Self Help and Resource Exchange offers a monthly food package for $15 to anyone, regardless of age or income.

Memories class

Join the exciting group to learn or hone the writing skills you need to save family memories. The meeting is scheduled at 3:45 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24.

Trash and treasure sale

Join us Saturday, Oct. 25, for a 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. sale of those special treasures you've been looking for.

Winners

Judy Charron was the lucky winner of the free lunch at the Tropics, and Judy Morrow won the gift certificate for this month's Closet Classics drawing.

Eleanor Barton won weekly pinochle honors, and Mable Hoagland won both weekly and weekend pinochle honors. Dorothy Oltmanns and Ann Greger won 5 in 1, and Alice Thornton and Harley Heath tied for pool. Tom Garrison won the Sunday pinochle honors.
