In honor of the 30th anniversary and
the city's 150th anniversary, there will be fireworks shows both
Friday and Saturday nights.
All weekend long there will be live
music, including the return of Pork and the Havana Ducks, and
dancing under the big tent on Main Street, as well as a carnival for
the kids.
Bratwurst and sauerkraut, beer, wine,
hot dogs, and a feast of other delectable goodies will be offered in
the food court, and artisans from near and far will have their goods
on display all around the shady lawn in front of the Mason County
Courthouse.
Highlights of the Oktoberfest include
the Volks March Parade that opens the event at 6 p.m. on Friday, and
live music until midnight.

Saturday's events begin at 9 a.m. with
the running of the Polka Pace Race, a 5K walk and run along Havana's
brick streets and along the Illinois River.
The music will resume at 11:30 a.m. and
continue again until midnight.
From 7:30 to 8:30 Saturday night there
will be a Civil War dance demonstration, sponsored by the committee
that organized the community's sesquicentennial celebration.
Hand-picked members of the audience and other "volunteers" may get a
quick dance lesson on the spot!
Sunday's
events in Havana start under the tent at 1 p.m. and continue until
4:30 p.m.
