MASON CITY -- Ethel Jeanette Maaks, 84, formerly of San Jose, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, at 8:15 a.m. at the Mason City Area Nursing Home.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Allens Grove, with the Rev. James Childs officiating.

Burial will be in Allens Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Maaks was a homemaker and mother, worked for the San Jose school district as a driver for special education students, was a realtor for Colonial Park in Delavan, and had written articles for the Pekin Times and Bloomington Pantagraph.

She was born July 27, 1920, at Hartsburg to Jake and Tena Fink Aper. She married Melvin Charles Maaks on June 15, 1940. He died Jan. 27, 2004.

She is survived by two sons, Gary Eugene (and Shirley) Maaks of Highbridge, N.J., and Paul Roger (and Michele) Maaks of San Jose, and three grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one son, M. Glenn Maaks; two daughters, Marilyn Ester Maaks and Gloria Eileen Imig; and one brother, Walter Aper.

She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and the Martha Mary group at the church. She was on the San Jose Village Board and the San Jose Park District board. She was also a member of the Tri-County Twirlers.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church.

LINCOLN -- Mary A. Supan, 97, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, at 7:52 p.m. at St. Clara's Manor.

Visitation will be from 9 until 10:15 a.m. Saturday at Peasley Funeral Home.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Church, with the Rev. R Anthony Lee officiating.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

She was born Feb. 2, 1907, in Lincoln to Sylvester Edward and Helen Alice Starchovich Bruketa. She married John A. Supan on Sept. 8, 1928, in Peoria County. He died Oct. 25, 1955.

She is survived by two sons, Robert (and Mary) Supan of Indianapolis, Ind., and Frank (and Connie) Supan of Green Valley, Ariz.; one daughter, Helen Mundt of Harbor City, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Louise Styblo of Tampa, Fla.

She was also preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.

Mrs. Supan was a member of Holy Family Church.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Association.

LINCOLN -- Christine Linnea Lansford, 91, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, at 11:50 p.m. at the Christian Village in Lincoln.

Her funeral will be Saturday, Feb. 19, at the First United Methodist Church in Lincoln, with the Rev. Jame Hahs officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in New Union Cemetery, Lincoln.

Mrs. Lansford was trust fund clerk in the business office at the Lincoln Developmental Center for many years.

She was born April 1, 1913, at Puritan, Mich., to Arvid and Kathleen Berg Nelson. She married Charles P. Lansford on Nov. 17, 1931, in Chicago. He died Sept. 14, 1997.

She is survived by three sons, Richard N. (and Elizabeth) Lansford of Littleton, Colo., Charles L. (and Annette) Lansford of Champaign and James E. (and Elaine) Lansford of Chillicothe, Ohio; one daughter, Virginia (and Emrik) Carlson of Lombard; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Henry Nelson of Woodbury, N.J.

She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

She was active in the First United Methodist Church of Lincoln and the Logan County senior citizens center, The Oasis.

Her hobbies included reading, sewing and knitting. She was a gentle, loving person
