A frontal boundary over southern
Illinois and southern Missouri will slowly lift northward,
allowing warm, moist air to move into the region. An area of
low pressure will move north along the boundary, triggering
additional showers and thunderstorms. The heaviest rain will
occur Wednesday night as the front moves east across the
state.

Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches
are possible in the watch area Wednesday night. The ground is
very saturated and still somewhat frozen, so flooding will be
a significant possibility. Many rivers and streams in the area
are already running high.
A flood watch means that flooding
is possible in or near the watch area but is not imminent. If
you are in the watch area, check your preparedness
requirements, especially if you have interests along area
rivers. Keep informed and be ready for action if flooding is
observed or if a flood warning is issued.
