ATLANTA -- Geraldine I. Hardy, 77, of Atlanta died
Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at 10:10 a.m. at her home.
Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Vance
Russell officiating. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to
1:30 p.m.
Burial will be in Frankberger Cemetery, rural Ellsworth.
She retired in 1992 from Eureka Co., where she worked 28
years as an assembler.
She was born Jan. 18, 1928, at Earlville.
She is survived by one son, Ron (and Kathy) Hardy of
Lincoln; one daughter, Connie (and Bill) Yeazle of Atlanta;
six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Katherine Noble
Koetz; her stepfather, Otto Koetz; three brothers; and an
infant daughter, Donna Louise Hardy.
She was a member of Prairieland Christian Church,
Hartsburg.

LINCOLN -- Jean Carmen Chambers, 77, formerly of
Petersburg, died Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at 3:06 a.m. at
Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Chambers donated her body to medical science. A
celebration of life for family and friends will be on Saturday
from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Lincoln Masonic Temple.
Arrangements are being handled by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln
Mrs. Chambers worked in the activities department at
Lincoln Developmental Center, Mary-Henry Nursing Home and
Lincolnland Nursing Home.
She was born Jan. 21, 1928, in Jerseyville to Albert and
Mattie Louise Carmack Taylor. She married William Robert
Chambers on Aug. 12, 1948, in Springfield. He preceded her in
death.
She is survived by one son, Eric Chambers of Lincoln; two
daughters, Lori (and Steve) Frazier of Lincoln and Tami (and
Mark) Kennett of Emden; two granddaughters, Catherine Nicole
Frazier and Casey Nicole Kennett; and one brother, Frederick
B. Taylor of Sacramento, Calif.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one
sister, Beverly Rohrer.
She was a member of the League of Women Voters and a former
precinct committee member in Broadwell Township.
She was an avid fossil hunter, loved to read and work
crossword puzzles, and was an avid yard sale hunter. At one
time she freelanced for the Lincoln Courier with yard sales
tips.
Memorials may be made to Logan County Animal Shelter,
American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or
Central Illinois Economic Development Corporation.

MASON CITY -- Donald Eugene Price Sr., 76, of Bath died
Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at 3:25 p.m. at his home.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hurley Funeral Home,
with the Rev. Bob Hill officiating. Visitation will be from
1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Mason City Cemetery.
Mr. Price worked for Funk Brothers Seed Co. for 17 years and
then for Lehn & Fink as a mechanic for 19 years. He retired
in 1991.
He was born Jan. 18, 1929, at Harrisburg to Zack and Mary
Austin Price. He married Norma Jean Duel on June 27, 1950,
in Decatur.
He is survived by his wife, of Bath; three sons, Donald Jr.
(and Marie) Price of Mason City, Zack (and Susan) Price of
Evanston and Rob Price of Ashland; one daughter, Elizabeth
(and Anthony) Ballard of Hurst, Texas; eight grandchildren,
Mary (and Jim) Coleman, Emily (and Shane) Burton, Gary
Price, Paul Price, Denise Cassano (and John Higganbotham),
Ruth Ballard, John Ballard and Karen Ballard; one
great-grandchild, Creighton Burton; and one sister, Mary
Jane (and Bob) Tucker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and
three sisters.
Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice.

MOUNT PULASKI -- Harry W. Van Hook, 89, of Mount Pulaski
died Monday, July 18, 2005, at 9:50 p.m. at his home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John"s
Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Frank Pieper and Bill Shanle
officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery.
Mr. Van Hook was postmaster in Mount Pulaski for 24 years
and a blacksmith at
W.F. Binder-Wagon and Blacksmith Shop for 16 years.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1946.
He was born May 10, 1916, in Lincoln to Forest C. and Marie
Miller Van Hook. He married Barbara Barnes in Tullahomo,
Tenn., on June 6, 1941.
He is survived by his wife, of Mount Pulaski; two
daughters, JoAnn (and Richard) Milligan of Riverside, Calif.,
and Mary Ann Van Hook of Chicago; one son, Robert (and Linda)
Van Hook of Warrensburg; six grandchildren, Michael Van Hook,
Lisa Van Hook, Chris Milligan, Joy Milligan, Tarik Van Hook
Den Den and Sharif Van Hook Den Den; and two
great-grandchildren, Nicole Cooper and Christian J. Milligan.
Three sisters preceded him in death.
He was a member of St. John"s Lutheran Church in Mount
Pulaski, taught adult Sunday school for 15 years and was
president of the church council when new pews and oak flooring
were installed.
He served on the Mount Pulaski City Council and was
chairman of the sewerage and waterworks committee when the
sewer system was installed and a three-mile pipeline and new
wells were put in from Salt Creek. He was police magistrate
for two years.
He was president of the grade school board when the new gym
and classrooms were built.
He was an active member of the Phoenix Volunteer Fire
Department for 37 years and was the secretary-treasurer for 35
years.
He was also on the Mount Pulaski Cemetery board for many
years.
He graduated from Mount Pulaski High School in 1934 and was
a graduate of the University of Illinois.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of Illinois or St.
John"s Lutheran Church.

LINCOLN -- Bertha Mae Dieckman, 89, of Clinton, formerly
of West Frankfort, died Monday, July 18, 2005, at 4:10 a.m.
at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at
East Lawn Memorial Gardens at Energy. The Rev. Kent
Hickerson will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to
10:30 a.m. at the cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home.
Ms. Dieckman was retired from factory work in Chicago.
She was born March 13, 1916, in Polk County.
She is survived by three nieces, Jean (and Dennis) Carter
of Lincoln, Barbara (and Allen) Trago of Clinton and Gina
Shelby of Lincoln; two nephews, Billy Shelby of Lincoln and
Joe (and Kathy) Russell of Oklahoma; and two sisters, Hazel
Owens of Lincoln and Pearl Russell of Kevil, Ky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus N. Shelby
and Alta Mae Hill Shelby Hutson, and three brothers, Billy
G. Shelby, Leo Shelby and an infant brother.
She was of the Christian faith.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American
Cancer Society or to the donor's choice.
