BLOOMINGTON -- Marie Sanders, 85, formerly of Easton,
died Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at 3 a.m. at BroMenn Regional
Medical Center. She had lived in Bloomington for the past 20
years.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hurley
Funeral Home in Mason City. Her funeral will be at 10:30
a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dustin Fulton
officiating.
Burial will be in Easton Cemetery.
Mrs. Sanders was a cook for the Easton Community School
District for several years and at VanTine's Restaurant in
Mason City. More recently she baby-sat, working from her
daughter's home in Bloomington. When she was younger, she
worked at the turkey hatchery in Havana, as well as at
Pfeiffer's potato farm in the summer.
She was born Jan. 28, 1920, in Decatur to Jerry and
Hattie Harris Covey. She married Charles Sanders on Aug. 9,
1952. He died Jan. 24, 1978.
She is survived by two sons, Michael Sanders of Akron,
Ohio, and Charles Sanders of Lincoln; four daughters,
Marietta Agge of Bloomington, Twila Billingsley of Athens,
Peggy Bergman of Mason City and Marilyn Ladda of Pekin; 19
grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph
Covey and Ed Covey; and two sisters, Mary Dobbelaire and
Betty Bishop.
She was also preceded in death by five brothers, one
sister, one granddaughter, two brothers-in-law and two
sisters-in-law.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Topeka.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart
Association.

MOUNT PULASKI -- Esther V. Beidler, 94, of Mount Pulaski
died Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at 12:40 a.m. at Vonderlieth
Living Center.
Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski, with
Marvin Flowers officiating. Visitation will be from noon to
1:30.
Burial will be in Mount Pulaski Cemetery.
Mrs. Beidler had been a policy loan supervisor at
Franklin Life of Springfield.
She was born Nov. 13, 1910, in Mount Pulaski to John and
Grace Barlow McDonald. She married Everett J. Beidler in
Lincoln on Oct. 11, 1930. He died Dec. 12, 1992.
She is survived by two daughters, Dolores (and Charles)
Cumming of Lincoln and Donna (and Edward) Vidmar of Chatham;
three grandchildren, Michael (and Margaret) Ayers of Fithin,
Jennifer Vidmar of Springfield and Tim Vidmar of Rochester;
and three great-grandchildren, Craig and Cody Ayers of
Fithian and Robby Hanauer of Springfield.
She was also preceded in death by six sisters and five
brothers.
She was a member of Mount Pulaski Christian Church and
the Loyal Daughters of the church.

LINCOLN -- Dorothy E. Ball, 84, of Lincoln died Monday,
July 11, 2005, at 10:30 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial
Hospital.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lincoln
Christian Church. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday
at the church, with Tom Gerdts officiating.
Burial will be in New Union Cemetery.
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home is handling
arrangements.
She was a local elementary schoolteacher for 30 years.
She was born Oct. 9, 1920, at Fort Bliss, Texas, to Dr.
Elmer D. and Marie F. Montgomery Rhoads. She married Trelby
J. Ball on May 29, 1943, at Fort Riley, Kan.
She is survived by one son, James L. (and Anita) Ball of
Danville, Calif.; two daughters, Janice Ball (and Ronald)
Betzelberger of Lincoln and Christie Ball (and Don) Lemme of
Lincoln; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and
one sister, Jeannette Miller of San Jose, Calif.
One brother, George, preceded her in death.
She was a member of Lincoln Christian Church and the
Rachel Circle, Jolly Seniors and Friendship Corner class of
the church. She was also a member of Lincoln White Shrine of
Jerusalem, Lincoln Woman's Club, Retired Teachers
Association and served on the board for the Apple
Scholarship.
She graduated from Lincoln College and the University of
Illinois in Champaign.
Memorials may be made to the Christian Village, Lincoln
Christian College or Lincoln Christian Church.

LINCOLN -- A memorial service for Darrell F. Lessen will be
at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 17, at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m.
Mr. Lessen, 75, of Lincoln died July 3, 2005, at 9:18
a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. His body was
cremated.
He retired from Albert Services as an electrician in 2002
and formerly owned Lessen Trucking with his brother.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
He was born Sept. 18, 1929, at Hartsburg to Arend "Arnie"
and Lena Luken Lessen. He married Verna M. Menssen at
Hartsburg on June 17, 1956.
He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; two brothers,
Donald (and Gayle) Lessen of Beason and Gene (and Marianne)
Lessen of Lincoln; and several nieces, nephews, great- and
great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister,
Patsy Gehlbach.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of
Lincoln, a member of American Legion Post 263 for 19 years,
a member of Lincoln Elks Lodge for 38 years and a member of
Logan County Farm Bureau.
