LINCOLN -- Grace L. Miller, 90, of Lincoln died Tuesday,
July 26, 2005, at 11:50 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial
Hospital.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Lincoln Free
Hill Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bill Dolan and the Rev.
Kurt Smith co-officiating.
Burial will be in Irish Grove Cemetery, Middletown.
Mrs. Miller retired from housekeeping at Abraham Lincoln
Memorial Hospital.
She was born Jan. 30, 1915, in Lincoln to John and Mary
Alice Kelso Harness. She married Orville Miller Sr. on April
21, 1934, in Lincoln. He died Feb. 3, 1999.
She is survived by one son, Orville (and Barb) Miller Jr.
of Lincoln; four daughters, Barbara A. Pfeifer of Lincoln,
Marjorie M. (and David) Yeates of Greenview, Kay L. Hill of
Clarksville, Tenn., and Shirley (and Derell) Barthel of
McLean; 17 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 17
great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Brockhouse
of Lincoln.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Richard and
David Miller; two grandchildren; two sisters, Kathryn Krotz
and Betty Miller; and three brothers, Charles, Wendell and
Harold Harness.
She was a member of Lincoln Hill Free Methodist Church.
Memorials may be made to her church or to the American
Heart Association.

ATLANTA -- Roger Lynn Hamblen, 58, of Chillicothe,
formerly of Atlanta, died Monday, July 25, 2005, at 10:10
p.m. at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Quiram Funeral
Home, with the Rev. Dennis Smith officiating. Visitation
will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral Home.
Burial will be in Atlanta Cemetery.
Mr. Hamblen retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company
after 30 years of service.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was born May 4, 1947, at Lincoln to Alva and Beatrice
Lamar Hamblen.
He is survived by his mother, Beatrice "Jiggs" Schimmel
of Lincoln; one son, Toby (and Anna) Hamblen of Auburndale,
Fla.; one daughter, Tara (and Rob) Jensen of Jacksonville,
Fla.; five grandchildren; one brother, Larry (and Helen)
Hamblen of Beason; and one nephew, Sean Hamblen of Beason.
He was preceded in death by his father and one son.
He was a member of NRA, Ducks Unlimited, American Legion,
VFW and AMVETS.
He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and auctions.
He will be missed dearly.

MASON CITY -- Robert J. Cunningham, 79, died Monday, July
25, 2005, at 8:30 p.m. at the Mason City Area Nursing Home.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Hurley Funeral
Home, with Nash Shawgo officiating. Visitation will be from 11
a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Mason City Cemetery.
Mr. Cunningham established Robert Cunningham Insurance
and Real Estate in 1958 and worked there as a real estate
agent until he retired in 2001. Previously he farmed for 10
years.
He served with the U.S. Navy Seabees in the Pacific from
1943 to 1946, during World War II.
He was born Sept. 7, 1925, at Easton to Robert Cecil and
Clara Auxier Cunningham. He married Faye Ingersoll on April
22, 1947, in San Jose.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Ken (and Sandi)
Cunningham of Mason City; two daughters, Kathy (and Dick)
McLaughlin of Mason City and Sue (and Ron) Sanert of
Petersburg; eight grandchildren, Tyler Robert Cunningham,
Bryce Alan Cunningham, Spencer Price Cunningham, Darren
Richard McLaughlin, Dakin Corey Sanert, Seth Evan Sanert,
Chase Niile Sanert and Armorelle Marie Cook; two
great-grandchildren, Connor Alan Cook and Rowan Robert Cook;
two brothers, John (and Janet) Cunningham of Mason City and
James (and Dorothy) Cunningham of Mason City; and one
sister, Betty (and Fritz) Onken of Mason City.
One brother, Stan, preceded him in death.
He was a member of the Mason City United Methodist
Church, American Legion and Greenview AMVETS.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mason City Area
Nursing Home, Mason City United Methodist Church or the food
pantry.

MASON CITY-- Steven A. Arnold, 58, of Mason City died
Monday, July 25, 2005, at 6:35 p.m. in Ogle County.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hurley Funeral
Home, with Nash Shawgo officiating. Visitation will be from
noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Mason City Cemetery.
Mr. Arnold worked for Texaco Company and National
By-Products. He owned and operated a truck that was leased
to Hallway S & H Trucking in Greenview for 25 years.
He served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1967 to 1969.
He was born March 7, 1947, in Lincoln to Kenneth and
Waunetta Stumier Arnold. He married Patricia "Patty" Boston
on Nov. 2, 1969, in Mason City. She survives.
Other survivors are his mother, of Mason City; one son,
Todd (and Shelly) Arnold of Mason City; one daughter,
Heather (and Robert) Herndon of Normal; and four
grandchildren, Brooke and Bailey Arnold of Mason City and
Raeanne and Jaycen Herndon of Normal.
He was preceded in death by his father, one brother and
one sister.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Mason City,
Greenview AMVETS and the Mason City American Legion.
He was a member of the Mason City Fire Department for 28
years and at one time served as the assistant chief.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mason City Fire
Department.

Pamela Best, 47, of Lincoln died Sunday, July 24, 2005, at
9:35 p.m. at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
A memorial service was on Thursday morning at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Rob
Hake officiating. Visitation preceded the service.
Burial is in Elkhart Cemetery, Elkhart.
Mrs. Best was a homemaker.
She was born Aug. 16, 1957, in Lincoln to Luke and Carol
Leftwich Koster. She married William H. Best II on Sept. 5,
1998, at Elkhart.
She is survived by her husband, of Lincoln; her mother,
Carol Fulk of Elkhart; one daughter, Kimberly (and Chris)
White of Lincoln; two grandchildren, Wesley and Jacob White
of Lincoln; and one brother, Mark (and Dawn) Koster of
Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.
She was of the Christian faith and was a member of ABATE.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research
Hospital.
