Areas of
dense fog remain across portions of central Illinois
[8:51
a.m. Tuesday announcement from Emergency Email Network]
[DEC.
12, 2006]
A weak warm front pushed into central Illinois
overnight. The extent of dense fog has diminished with the passage of
the front; however, areas of dense fog still exist, primarily across
locations that have thicker snow cover remaining. Some breaks have
developed in the cloud cover across west-central Illinois, and this may
help the fog to thicken up once again through midday. |
The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a dense fog
advisory in effect until 1 p.m. Tuesday for the counties of
Woodford, Tazewell, McLean, Mason and Logan, including the cities of
Bloomington, Normal, Havana and Lincoln. Areas of dense fog will
continue to reduce visibility to one-quarter mile or less through
midday. Visibility may change rapidly over short distances,
especially in areas with more prominent terrain changes or thicker
snow cover.

A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be
reduced to less than one-quarter mile. If driving, slow down. Use
your headlights and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.
The dense fog advisory until 1 p.m. Tuesday is also in effect for
the counties of Knox, Stark, Peoria, Marshall, Fulton and Schuyler,
including the cities of Galesburg and Peoria.
