Wendell Fletcher

LINCOLN -- Wendell D. Fletcher, 86, of Lincoln died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006, at 3:30 a.m. at St. Clara's Manor.

His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Zion Cemetery.

Mr. Fletcher was retired from the maintenance department for the city of Lincoln.

He served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre during World War II.

He was born Nov. 11, 1919, in Oak, Neb., to Raymond and Winnie Corman Fletcher. He married Aileen Aversdate on April 11, 1947 in Nelson, Neb. She died Nov. 9, 1994.

He is survived by two sons, Dennis (and Connie) Fletcher of Atlanta and Terry Fletcher of Clinton, Miss.; two grandchildren, Matthew and Kimberly Fletcher of Atlanta; and one sister, Twilla (and Waldean) Jensen of Waterloo, Iowa.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Von.

He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Lincoln.

Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or St. Clara's Manor.

MOUNT PULASKI -- Rudolph Baumhardt, 85, of Elkhart, formerly of Mount Pulaski, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, at 2:05 a.m. at Vonderlieth Living Center.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Veail Chapel, Steenbergen Cemetery. The Rev. Wallace Reifsteck will officiate, and military rites will be conducted.

Mr. Baumhardt was a retired farmer.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

He was born July 15, 1920, in rural Lincoln to Hugo and Bertha Arndt Baumhardt. He married Zelma Louise Wilham in Bowling Green, Mo., on Dec. 20, 1941; she died March 20, 1987. He married Janet Weiser Welch in Rockville, Ind., on April 28, 1988. She survives.

Other survivors are one daughter, Sandra Wilmert of Lincoln; one son, Gary (and Jean) Baumhardt of Normal; one foster daughter, Sharon (and Lynn) Neal of Springfield; two stepdaughters, Kathy (and Steve) Schilling of Monticello and Cheryl (and David) Culbertson of Geneseo; three stepsons, Brad Welch of Scottsdale, Ariz., David (and Ayten) Welch of Springfield and Mike (and Brenda) Welch of Deltona, Fla.; one sister, Lorene Schrenk of Springfield; 21 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, three sisters and one grandson.

He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ of Lincoln and Mount Pulaski American Legion Post 447. He was a 50-year member and past commander of the American Legion and a past board member of the Logan County Farm Service Agency.

Frances Baker

DECATUR -- Frances E. Baker, 86, of Decatur, formerly of Lincoln, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at 4:10 p.m. at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with the Rev. Robert Henderson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Mountjoy Cemetery.

Mrs. Baker worked in the laundry department at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln and also worked at the Wareco gas station in Mount Pulaski.

She was born April 29, 1919, in Lincoln to William and Ethel Shaw Britsch. She married Harold D. Baker on May 27, 1940, in St. Charles, Mo. He died April 29, 1985.

She is survived by two sons, Danny (and Karen) Baker of Decatur and Larry D. (and Daisy) Baker of Stanford; two granddaughters, Glenda (and Rick) Hoffman of Maroa and Cindy (and Jason) Manint of Maroa; three great-grandchildren, Daniel Gene Hoffman,

Emma Sue Hoffman and Dakota Ann Manint; six stepgrandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-great-grandchildren.

One brother also preceded her in death.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lincoln.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Alzheimer's disease research.

LINCOLN -- Janice "Jan" Kay Parks, 63, of Springfield and Fort Myers, Fla., died Feb. 1, 2006, at 12:41 a.m. at Health Park Medical Center in Fort Myers.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at New Union Cemetery, Lincoln, with the Rev. Mark Carnahan officiating.

There is no visitation.

Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln is handling arrangements.

Mrs. Parks was a secretary for the state of Illinois from 1960 until her retirement from the Bureau of the Budget in 1991.

She was born Nov. 11, 1942, in Lincoln to Matthew and Eleanor Lenz Wertin. She married Roby Parks on May 15, 1971, in Springfield.

She is survived by her husband, of Springfield and Fort Myers, Fla., and her father, of Lincoln.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Eleanor Wertin, and her brother, Bruce Wertin.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln.

Memorials may be made to Waggin' Tails of Springfield or the Animal Protective League in Springfield.
