BEASON -- John "Daniel" Davis, 66, of Beason died Saturday,
Jan. 14, 2006, at 10 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in
Springfield.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Elkhart
Christian Church, Elkhart, with Bob Twist officiating.
There will be no visitation.
Burial, with military rites, will be at a later date at
Elkhart Cemetery, Elkhart.
Arrangements are being handled by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Mr. Davis retired from Davis Truck Service after 25 years
of service.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He was born July 28, 1939, in Springfield to John Delmar
and Thelma Vivian Johnson Davis. He married Phyllis May
Halladay on Nov. 2, 1963, at Elkhart.
He is survived by his wife, of Lincoln; his mother, of
Elkhart; one son, Cheston (and wife Lizbeth) Davis of Villa
Grove; two daughters, Melinda (and Marvin) Soelle of
Weyerhaeuser, Wis., and Angela (and Dustin) Pitts of Beason;
three brothers, Roger (and Mary Lou) Davis of Pennsylvania,
Carl (and Elizabeth Kay) Davis of Elkhart and Brad (and
Debbie) Davis of Chadwick; two sisters, Sue Roush of
Industry and Sheryl (and Stephen) Deckro of Morrison; and
five grandchildren, Ashley Kate Polk, Chelsea Elaine Pitts,
Jonathan Earl Soelle, Ryan Lance Pitts and Isidora B. Davis.
He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Tony
William Davis; and one grandson, Jeremy Soelle.
He was a member of the Elkhart Christian Church.
Memorials may be made to the church or the American
Cancer Society.

NEW HOLLAND -- Joyce Ann Wilham, 56, of New Holland died
Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at 10:40 p.m. at St. John's
Hospital in Springfield.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Her funeral
will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Tony
Shuff officiating.
Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Lincoln.
Ms. Wilham was manager of the deli at Thorntons in
Lincoln.
She was born Jan. 8, 1950, in Lincoln to Wayne and Alice
Connelley Smith. She married Norman Wilham on Dec. 23, 1968,
in Mount Pulaski.
She is survived by her ex-husband, of Lincoln; her
mother, Alice Petro, of Lincoln; two daughters, Andrea (and
John) Coers of New Holland and Tamara Wilham (and Jason Fulk)
of New Holland; one son, Jason Wilham (and Tara Bree) of New
Holland; four brothers, Allen Smith of Lincoln, Richard
Smith of Taylorville, Larry Smith of Mason City and Gary
Smith of Taylorville; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and one grandson,
Evan Jay Wilham.
Memorials may be made to the family.

Owens

LINCOLN -- Eloise D. Owens, 95, of Lincoln died Monday,
Jan. 9, 2006, at 11:05 p.m. at Hopedale Medical Complex,
Hopedale.
Her funeral was Saturday morning at Second Baptist
Church, with the Rev. Glenn Shelton officiating. Visitation
preceded the service.
Burial is in Union Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Mrs. Owens was a cook at Lincoln Developmental Center before she
retired and was also a caterer.
She was born Sept. 24, 1910, in Lincoln to William C. and
Rilla Robinson Davis. She married Lee T. Townsend, and he
preceded her in death. She later married Leonard Owens in
Flint, Mich., and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by two sons, Henry Albert Townsend of Ann
Arbor, Mich., and Harvey Allen (and Miriam) Townsend of
Granada Hills, Calif.; one daughter, Dolly M. Townsend of
St. Louis, Mo.; one brother, Guy E. Davis of Springfield;
six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, four
brothers and two grandsons.
Mrs. Owens was a member of the Second Baptist Church of
Lincoln, where she served on the mothers' board. She was
also a board member for Community Action and an active
member of NAACP.
She was a former foster grandparent of the year for the
state of Illinois.
