Lincoln Legion plays in tourney at Edwardsville

[July 03, 2007]  EDWARDSVILLE -- Sunday and Monday, the Senior Lincoln Legion played at SIU Edwardsville in the Metro East Legion tourney.

In Game 1 on Sunday, Pine Bluff Arkansas beat Lincoln 5-3. Cramer Soebbing was the tough-luck loser as all five runs were unearned. Lincoln's defense made six errors in the game.

Lincoln had 10 hits as Cody Aughton had two hits, one a double; Gary Rademaker added two hits; and Justin Mason also had two hits.

In Game 2 on Sunday, Edwardsville beat Lincoln 3-0. Paul Foley was the losing pitcher, giving up only one earned run on six hits.

Lincoln was held to two hits, with Justin Mason and Clark Schoonover picking them up.

In Game 3 on Monday, Lincoln beat Granite City 2-0 on a two-hit shutout by Royce Duncan. He also struck out six batters.

Lincoln picked up five hits and Josh Baker had two of those. Cramer Soebbing had a double.

In Game 4 on Monday, Oglesby beat Lincoln 2-1. Clark Schoonover picked up the loss but gave up only one earned run on four hits and struck out seven.

Paul Foley had a double for Lincoln.
