Geneva Mayberry

[July 09, 2007]  ATLANTA -- Geneva C. Mayberry, 75, of Atlanta died Friday, July 6, 2007, at 9:06 p.m. at Maple Ridge Care Centre in Lincoln.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Monday at Quiram Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Julie Azbell officiating.

Burial will be in Atlanta Cemetery.

Mrs. Mayberry retired from Atlanta Grade School, where she worked in the cafeteria.

She was born Oct. 22, 1931, in McLean to Martin and Gertrude F. Nevius Gordon. She married Leo Jack Mayberry on Nov. 3, 1950, in McLean.

Surviving Mrs. Mayberry are her husband of 56 years; her children, Judy (and Dennis) Colaw, Ron (and Mary) Mayberry, Diann (and Dean) Langley and Mike (and Thao) Mayberry, all of Atlanta; three sisters, Mildred Loercher, Lucy (and Glenn) Williams and Elizabeth Daugherty, all of Atlanta; two brothers, John L. Gordon of McLean and Rex (and Dorothy) Gordon of McLean; eight grandchildren and four stepgrandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jim Gordon, Claude Gordon and Buck Gordon; one sister, Grace Spears; and five infant siblings.

She graduated from McLean High School.

Memorials may be made to the Atlanta Rescue Squad, Atlanta Fire Department or VNA Hospice Care of Illinois.
