Lincoln Rural Fire Chief Dean Kukuck joins rural fire protection trustees Everett Kennett, Lynn Haseley and Jerrie Pharis (standing in for Robert Pharis) in first shovel at the groundbreaking of the new fire department headquarters.

The new location on Lincoln Parkway, just north of Woodlawn Road/Route 10, will improve response times.  The move to larger quarters will allow local equipment to come under one roof, make pullout and return to the station quicker and safer, and improve coordination with joint paramedic calls.

Construction is expected to take about eight months and will begin as soon as final design plans return.  The plans went in for a few adjustments but are expected back next week, Kukuck said.
