Robert Aylesworth

[March 02, 2009]  MOUNT PULASKI -- Robert D. Aylesworth, 70, of Mount Pulaski, died Sunday, March 1, 2009, at 7:24 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Frank Pieper officiating.

Burial will be in Steenbergen Cemetery.

Mr. Aylesworth was custodian at Mount Pulaski Grade School for 31 years before he retired.

He was born Oct. 17, 1938, in Mount Pulaski to Charles Leroy and Geneva Benzinger Aylesworth. He married Sharon Elaine Miller in Lincoln on Feb. 8, 1964.

He is survived by his wife, of Mount Pulaski; one daughter, Kathy (and John) Butcher of Mount Pulaski; one son, John (and Tricia) Aylesworth of Mount Pulaski; two brothers, Charles "Sonny" (and Barbara) Aylesworth of Mount Pulaski and George (and Arlene) Aylesworth of The Colony, Texas; three sisters, Dorothy Malone of Springfield, Betty Scroggin of Mount Pulaski and Mary (and Don) Nelson of Fairfax, Va.; seven grandchildren, Ben Butcher, Sami Butcher, Becky (and Tim) Cordani, Shelby Young, Elaine Aylesworth, Emma Aylesworth and Kayla Aylesworth; and two great-grandchildren, Adrianna and Aaron Cordani.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral Director

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, a 27-year member of the Mount Pulaski Phoenix Fire Department and a founding member of the Mount Pulaski Ambulance.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or Mount Pulaski Phoenix Fire Department.
