ALMH volunteers were given an appreciation luncheon yesterday at First Presbyterian Church in Lincoln. The volunteers give countless hours helping the hospital fulfill its mission to the community.

A brush fire occurred at the entrance to Lincoln Lakes yesterday. No personal property was damaged and no injuries were reported. Lincoln Rural responded at approximately 8:45 p.m. with aid provided by Lincoln City. Cause of the fire is as yet undetermined.

This aerial photo shows a plume of ash rising from the volcano in southern Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull glacier on Monday. Scientists say that because this volcano is located below a glacial ice cap, magma is being cooled quickly, causing explosions and plumes of grit that can be catastrophic to plane engines, depending on prevailing winds. But scientists in Iceland offered some hope Monday that conditions might be easing, saying the new volcanic ash plume is lower, which would pose less of a threat to commercial aircraft in the future.
