Kenneth McRoberts

[March 01, 2010]  ATLANTA -- Kenneth Earl McRoberts, 63, of Atlanta, died on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at 11:58 a.m. at his home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

A memorial service for Mr. McRoberts will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta, with the Rev. Jeffrey G. Laible officiating.

Burial will be in Atlanta Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post of Atlanta.

He retired from Caterpillar after 34 years with the company.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1968.

He was born Aug. 7, 1946, in Lincoln, a son of Earl Landreth and Frances Hafley McRoberts.

He is survived by his children, Kimberly Ann (and Aaron) Vercimak of Bloomington and Timothy Earl McRoberts of Atlanta; one sister, Vicki (Paul) Eckert of Atlanta; two brothers, Terry (and Carol) McRoberts of Fayetteville, Ark., and Randy McRoberts of Atlanta; two grandchildren, Kayla Renee Howe of Virginia and Lauren Frances Vercimak of Bloomington; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a member of Eagles Lodge 2708 in Lincoln and a former member of UAW Local 974.

He enjoyed playing golf and shooting pool.

He graduated from the Atlanta High School in 1964.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Atlanta Museum or Atlanta Rescue Squad.
