Letters to the Editor

Lincoln Daily News welcomes letters of appreciation, information and opinion on matters pertaining to the community.

Controversial issues:
As a community we need to be able to talk openly about matters that affect the quality of our lives. The most effective and least offensive manner to get your point across is to stick to the issue and refrain from commenting on another person's opinion. Letters that deviate from focusing on the issue may be rejected or edited and marked as such.

To the editor:

I want to express my feelings on the comments made by Joyce Seelye. (Article: Racetrack gets curfew on school nights, no time extensions without fines)

As far as the week of the races' opening day being a Holy Week, she is right: My family goes to the races every week, just like you may go to church.

And as far as no one spending money here, try getting a seat at Steak n Shake after the races, or get gas at Thorntons, not to mention the auto parts stores, Walmart, etc.

And if they would like to have a four-day show, the community should support them 100 percent.

Norm and Don bend over backward to try to keep the peace, but every time they go to the city council, they get kicked in the teeth.

Yes, they would be better off in the country, but they would have more problems trying to get property rezoned through the county

J.R. Eskew
