Silver Beat training is Wednesday, Nov. 17, at The Oasis, 501
Pulaski St. in Lincoln. The public is invited to attend and the time is 10-11 a.m.
Silver Beat training, sponsored by Attorney General Lisa
Madigan's office and Logan County Triad, can help seniors learn more
about reverse mortgages, the new rules for credit cards and how to
avoid counterfeit check scams. This training will give seniors the
knowledge and tools needed to protect themselves and others from
scam artists and deceptive business practices. Erin Ruebbelke,
policy adviser for the attorney general's office, will give the
presentation.
The Logan County Geographic Information System Committee
will have demonstrations and explanations Thursday, Nov. 18, on how
to the use Logan County Internet mapping site,
www.co.logan.il.us/gis/.
The public is invited to attend and demonstrations will be between
noon and 3 p.m. at the Logan County Courthouse. (See

A reminder that this Saturday is the triple-header fundraiser
at the Knights of Columbus in Lincoln. The cost is $15 per person
and includes all the hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs and fries
you can eat. Plus, Vintage Daze band will play all evening. The
event starts at 5 p.m. but doors will be open at 4:30.
The Knights of Columbus, Save the Mill and the Logan County
Special Olympics all will receive proceeds from the event.
