Accidents Oct. 23, 7:34 p.m.
Accident occurred in the 1100 block of Hickox Drive, in the
Bonanza parking lot.
The vehicle belonging to Birk was parked in the Bonanza parking
lot unattended. An eyewitness entered the restaurant, reported being
a witness to an incident in the parking lot and offered the license
plate number of a vehicle that had allegedly struck the Birk
vehicle. The witness then left without giving a name or any further
information.
The employee located Birk, and police were called and given the
license number, which led them to Phillip Tuttle of Carthage. When
Tuttle was contacted, he said that when he was at the Bonanza, he
witnessed a young woman putting a child in a car seat, then leaving
the parking space next to the Birk vehicle.
Tuttle maintained that once she left, there was a full space
between him and the Birk vehicle and that he was not the one who hit
that parked car. He also maintained that it could have been the
unidentified young female in the adjacent car who was actually the
culprit.
