BLOOMINGTON -- Geneva A. Day, 71, of
Bloomington, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at 6:07 a.m. at Advocate
BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Quiram-Peasley Funeral
Home in Atlanta. A celebration of her life will follow at 6 p.m.,
with Maurice Stribling officiating. |
She was born on March 4, 1940, in Parma, Mo. Her
parents were Lloyd and Bessie Silkwood Ross. She
married Cecil "Sonny" Gordon in February 1956 and
they were later divorced. She married Robert Day on
July 29, 1979, in Painesville, Ohio. He preceded her
in death in June 2009.
She is survived by one daughter, Jackie (and Carl
"Woody") Woodruff of Waynesville; one son, Robert
(and Honey) Day of Ashtabula, Ohio; one
stepdaughter, Lillian (and Keith) McClendon of
Kirtland, Ohio; two stepsons, James Day of Kirtland,
Ohio, and John Day of Arizona; five grandchildren,
Stephanie, Stacey, Ronald, Robert Jr. and
Christopher; six stepgrandchildren, Gregory, Sunny,
Matt, Katie, Grace and Beth; two
great-grandchildren, Larissa and Ozzy; two
step-great-grandchildren, Trenton and Trinity; four
sisters, Norma Mallory of Ohio, Doris Buford of
Illinois, Alice Osborne of Missouri and Eunice
Groves of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
She also continued a loving relationship with the
extended Gordon family members and was especially
close to Irene "Tinky" Gordon Melton, Easy Gordon
Tuggle, Connie Gordon Moran and Katherine Gordon
Marlett.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her
only brother, Ted Ross.
Geneva spent her childhood years, school years
and most of her adult life in the McLean. She moved
to Eastlake, Ohio, in 1976 and retuned to central
Illinois in 2000.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother,
sister and aunt.
She will be dearly missed by her family and many
friends. |
