LINCOLN -- Daisy Eudena Ray, formerly
of Lincoln, died Friday, March 18, 2011, at Liberty Village in
Clinton, where she had lived for the past year.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday,
March 26, at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home in
Lincoln. Her funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at
the funeral home. |
Burial will follow in Funks Grove Cemetery. She
was employed at Lincoln Developmental Center from
1974 until 1984 and worked for Mental Health of
Central Illinois from 1984 until her retirement in
2004. She was then a volunteer house mother for
Genesis Ministries before moving back to Decatur due
to her health. She had come to Illinois in 1951 and
worked at Norman's Laundry and Dry Cleaning until
1955. Then she worked at Tripplett Factory before
opening her own day care in Decatur and later
driving a school bus for the city of Decatur.
Daisy was born Aug. 21, 1930, in Rocky Hill, Ark.
Her parents were Herman and Bessie Starcher Ray.
She is survived by her daughter, Daisy Jane Ray
and husband Jimmy Ray Fairbanks of Decatur; two
grandsons, Jackie R. Maple of Lincoln and Jackie W.
Grubbs of Argenta; two great-grandsons, Jaxon Tyler
and Kannon Krosby Grubbs, both of Argenta; and one
great-granddaughter, Adylynn Jane Maple of Clinton.
She was also preceded in death by one brother,
Johnny Herman Ray; one son, Willard Dale Grubbs; and
a very special nephew, William Harrison Ray of
Leslie, Ark.
She was a faithful and active member of
LifePointe Church of God in Lincoln, served by
Pastor Jacob Skelton. |
A very special thank-you to Erin and Jaden Rigney of
Clinton and Aunt Shell for all the flowers, to Terri
McEntire of Lincoln, Bill and Fannie Elsberry of
Hopedale, Pastor Dan Scalf and visiting pastors John
Lowen and Susie Freeman of Atlanta Assembly of God,
visiting pastor and longtime friend Ron Howerton of
Maranatha Assembly of God, Perry Groves of Lincoln,
Carla Phillips and all of the Manor Court staff for
your love and support, roommate and friend Dorothy
Morris, and special friend David Trimble of Blue
Mound.
Memorial donations may be made to the family and
will be accepted at the funeral home.
