Eric Applegate

[May 20, 2011]  ATLANTA -- A memorial graveside service for Eric L. Applegate is scheduled for May 28 at 11 a.m. at the Atlanta Cemetery. The Rev. Rob Roy will officiate.

Mr. Applegate, 52, of Atlanta, died Dec. 31, 2010, at 10:30 p.m. at Maple Ridge in Lincoln.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Applegate farmed in the Atlanta area his entire life.

He was born Oct. 18, 1958, in Lincoln, a son of John and Marian Westerinen Applegate.

He is survived by his parents, of Atlanta; one brother, David Applegate of McLean; one sister, Linda Applegate of Bruce Crossing, Mich.; three sons, Lance Cpl. Aron Applegate, serving with the U.S. Marine Corps, Nathan Applegate of Lincoln and Evan Applegate of Lincoln; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Eric was an avid gardener and chef. He enjoyed sharing his vegetables and cooking for his family and friends. He was also an accomplished landscaper.

Eric enjoyed spending time at his grandmother's house in Bruce Crossing, Mich., a place special to him since childhood. He also enjoyed vacationing at a family cottage on Lake Gogebic with his extended family. He enjoyed the natural beauty of the Upper Peninsula, a place he truly loved. He enjoyed snowmobiling, sightseeing and fishing.

He graduated from Olympia High School in 1976.

Memorials may be made to the Atlanta Rescue Squad or the building fund at the Hopedale Medical Complex.
