May 12 file photo shows a police officer pushing one of the two
flight recorders from Air France Flight 447,
which crashed in 2009, after they were displayed to reporters
during a press conference at the French investigators'
headquarters in Le Bourget, near Paris. Officials say the flight
recorders show that the captain arrived in the cockpit after the
plane had begun its fateful 3 1/2-minute descent. The initial
findings of the French air accident investigation agency, the
BEA, based on a reading of the so-called black boxes recovered
from the ocean depths, found that the captain had been resting
when the emergency began. All 228 aboard the Rio de Janeiro-to-Paris flight were killed on June 1, 2009.

A Feb. 15 file photo shows Cheryl Cole.
The British sweetheart has been dumped from U.S.
television, and tabloid media say she lost her big break in part
over fears American audiences wouldn't understand her regional
accent or the phrases unique to her corner of Britain. Cole, whose
rags-to-riches showbiz story captivated Britain, had been expected
to appear as a judge on Simon Cowell's "The X Factor," due to
premiere in the United States later this year. But on Friday, Britain's tabloids announced that the 27-year-old had been
removed as a judge, and her official status with the program, which
has already started shooting, remains unclear.
