[September 14, 2011]  (AP)  Cold air will push into the Plains and Midwest on Wednesday as a cold front pushes south out of Canada. Highs in the northern states will be in the 40s and 50s at the coldest spots, with overnight lows dipping into the teens for portions of Minnesota.

Overnight lows will dip below freezing as far south as northern Iowa. Fargo, N.D., will see temperatures dip to the low 30s, while Grand Rapids, Mich., farther north, will see lows in the upper 20s. In the heart of the coldest air, precipitation is possible and some locations could see snow, especially the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and northern Minnesota.

Further south, precipitation is likely around the Tennessee Valley. More wet weather is expected to the west in the Four Corners region and north through the mountains of Wyoming.

In the West, temperatures will continue to be pleasant, with occasional thunderstorms popping up throughout California.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Tuesday ranged from a morning low of 32 degrees at West Yellowstone, Mont., to a high of 107 degrees at Shawnee, Okla.
