ability to take in moisture and nutrients from
the root system. Monday, city

among those who gathered at the Lincoln Public Library
on Monday to hear from Debbie Fluegel of the Trees Forever
organization about emerald ash borer. Tuesday
evening at the Lincoln City Council meeting, Jackson said
tree inspections conducted after the presentation have raised
some concerns that the insect may already be in Logan
County, but nothing has been confirmed yet. The USDA has been contacted, and further examination of
the suspect trees will be conducted before any
conclusions are made.

Last week the
Bassi Construction crew was found executing a lead paint
abatement at the former Dr. Schall house, 325 N.
Logan. The house was built in the early 1900s by the
very prominent Atlas family. The home had stood vacant and for sale
several years before it was eventually purchased by Scott and Natalie
Marquez, who have since been working to restore it to its
former glory.

far the most memorable moment shared by television viewers
during the past 50 years, according to a study released on Wednesday. The only thing that came close was President
Kennedy's assassination and its aftermath in 1963, but
that was only for people age 55 and over who experienced
the events as they happened instead of replayed as a historical
artifact.
