A medieval manuscript, "Opening the Fourth Seal;
The Fourth Horseman," by an unknown artist, London, about
1255-60, is displayed at the "Heaven, Hell and Dying Well:
Images of Death in the Middle Ages" exhibit at The Getty Museum
in Los Angeles. The show goes back to the 15th century to
unearth some of the mankind's earliest, most colorful images of
life's final chapter. In Chapter 6 of the Apocalypse, Saint
John the Evangelist described his vision of the four horsemen
who herald the coming of the Last Judgment.
