Each
year Mayor Keith Snyder takes on the role of
another city official for the annual
Trick or Treat with the Mayor on the Saturday
before Halloween. So far he has been the
fire chief, the police chief and the city
treasurer. The big question now is, who
will he be this year? The Lincoln Park
District, the City of Lincoln and Main Street Lincoln are partnering
this year to bring the community an afternoon of
Halloween fun on Oct. 27. The
children's Trick or Treat with the Mayor has a
new time, 3 p.m., so mark your calendars and
be sure to come out and join in the fun.

Dogo Ndiaye strokes ram Papis General as competitors
await the judges' final decisions in the Fann area regional
final of the Khar Bii competition on Oct. 6 in Dakar, Senegal. In a
nation where sheep are given names and kept inside homes as
companion animals, the most popular show on television is "Khar
Bii," or literally, "This Sheep," in the local Wolof language.
It's an American Idol-style nationwide search for Senegal's most
perfect specimen, ahead of the Eid al-Adha festival, known
locally as Tabaski.
