West Lincoln Broadwell students did a good thing. They raised $1,975 for Illini Service Dogs, a program that trains dogs to aid persons with handicaps. On Friday, the WLB students were rewarded with a visit from four of the University of Illinois students and their dogs in training.

The trainers all wore shirts that said, “Respect the Vest.” Students learned that no one should go up to and play with or pet a dog wearing a vest. It is working. There are times each day when the vest comes off, then it is play and petting time.
