The University of Illinois Extension educator Jennifer Fishburn chats with members of the city of Lincoln Street Department Thursday morning. Fishburn hosted a seminar on Emerald Ash Borer at the Lincoln Extension Office. The program offered information on tree identification, insect detection, and control through treatment or disposal of affected trees. LDN will offer more information on the meeting in a future edition.

The Mount Pulaski Grade School has announced its Students of the Month for January 2015.

They are sixth-grader Grant Davis, the son of Ryan and Jennifer Davis of Elkhart; seventh-grader Ameila Kuhlman, the daughter of Jason Kuhlman of Elkhart and Kati Chandler of Chestnut; and eighth-grader Lorenne Wilham, the daughter of Josh and Sarah Wilham of Elkhart.

In a hard fought defensive battle between the Chester-East Lincoln Panthers and the Mount Pulaski Bruins at the Lincoln Center on Thursday night the Panthers were able to hang on long enough for a 32-28 win. The win gave C-EL the Seventh Grade County Championship and improved the team record to 15-2 on the season. The Panthers were lead by Noah Funk with 10 points, Will Ewald had nine points, Isaac Dewberry scored five points, and Jaden Pollice and Thomas Morris made four points each.
