On August 18th the Logan County Farm Bureau Young
Leaders conducted their second annual Farm Tour,
estimating yields for this fall harvest. The team
surveyed fields from throughout the county and
estimated the yields in each region before coming up
with a country-wide average. They estimate that on
the county-wide average corn yields will reach 218.4
bushels per acre. The team’s estimate of 175.7 BPA
last year came within two bushels of the final
results. The goal is to create an estimate within
five bushels of actual yield. Once they did their
work, the team drew an outline of the county and
marked the areas they surveyed with ears of corn.
Left to right, members of the team are Daniel Eeten,
Eli Klokkenga, Matt Wrage, Jared Brown, and Kyle
Atteberry. Team member Kyle Klockenga was not
available for the photo.
