Nobody
ever wants to go to the hospital, but on
Thursday, the somewhat unpleasant experience
was made better for patient Esther Boward,
as well as the hospital when she arrived,
and everyone realized her visit was pretty
special. It was five years ago that Abraham
Lincoln Memorial Hospital transferred
patients from the old hospital on Eighth
Street to its then new location just off of
Lincoln Parkway.
Esther was the first patient to be
transferred from the old to the new. When
she shared her recollection of that transfer
with staff, everyone got a little excited
and decided that it was a fitting time to
celebrate, which brightened Esther's day too
and made her most recent visit more
enjoyable.
