Members
of the Military Order of the Purple Heart
Chapter 159 gathered on Thursday morning in the
State Capitol Senate Chambers. The group, with
local membership, was on hand to witness the
signing of Illinois Joint Resolution 0057,
naming Illinois as a Purple Heart State. The
resolution was sponsored by District 87
Representative Tim Butler (standing far left in
the back) and Senator Bill Brady (Standing far
right, second from the right). The new
resolution reads in part: "Whereas Illinois
Veterans have given their lives so we can
maintain our freedom and way of life; and
Whereas, it is fitting to honor combat wounded
Veterans for their service and sacrifice."
